NTAGI To Review Covid Vaccine Data For Children In 5-12 Age Group

The NTAGI would review the Covid vaccine data for children in the age group of 5 to 12 years. This comes just days after the Drug Controller General of India (DCG) okayed Corbevax for children falling in the age bracket of 5 to 12 years, and Covaxin for children aged 6 to 12 years, for emergency use. Govt Unlikely To Reduce Gap Between Second Dose & Booster Dose: COVID-19

Amid speculations regarding the Government of India planning to reduce the gap between the second dose and the booster dose, government sources have confirmed that there are currently no such plans. SII CEO Adar Poonawalla had earlier urged the government to cut down the gap between doses. Some experts have, however, suggested that the longer the gap is between the doses, the stronger the immunity develops in the vaccine recipient.

Haryana Govt Rolls Out "Free" Boosters For 18-59 Age Group

The Haryana government has rolled out "free" booster doses for the 18-59 age group. The announcement came just days after the Delhi government made booster shots freely available for the age group. Around a whopping Rs 300 crores of taxpayers' money out of the state Covid-19 Relief Fund would be dedicated to this program. Experts are divided on the need for these "precautionary" doses.

COVID Vaccination Drive For Children Aged 12-14 Begins; Co-Morbidity Clause Removed

Children aged 12-14 years can now get their vaccine shots, starting from March 16. Corbevax vaccine manufactured by Hyderabad based Biological E, will be administered to children in the said age group. Also, everyone above 60 years of age are now eligible for a precautionary dose, starting from March 16. Initially, only those with pre-existing co-morbidities were eligible for the precautionary shot.
