Dehradun School Declared Micro-Containment Zone Over Seven Covid Cases

A school in Dehradun has been declared a micro-containment zone over just seven Covid cases. Dr R Rajesh Kumar, the District Magistrate of Dehradun, stated, "This decision was taken after a report from the Chief Minister's Office." He has also directed the police to ensure barricades and security arrangements over these cases. On 5th May, the state of Uttarakhand only reported 23 Covid cases.

Chandigarh Admin Puts Vaccine Mandate On Hold Following SC Order

Daily Covid Cases Dip, Recovery Rate Currently At 98.74%

The daily Covid cases in India took another dip on 2nd May as the country recorded only 2,223 fresh cases in the last 24 hours. The Covid recovery rate currently stands at 98.74%. As many as 2,723 Covid patients have recovered from the disease in the last 24 hours, pushing the total number of recoveries since the onset of the pandemic up to 4,25,38,976.

IIT Madras Reports 11 Covid Cases, Tally Now Stands At 182

Amid Covid scare at IIT-Madras, where all the students are said to be vaccinated, eleven more Covid cases have been reported. The total number of cases now stands at 182. This comes days after a group of doctors in India, made a public appeal that asymptomatic people should not be treated as infected people. The group insisted that mere positive RT-PCR tests do not necessarily mean "cases."

Chandigarh Admin To Bar Unvaccinated Students From Attending Classes

The UT Chandigarh Administration has decided to bar unvaccinated school students, who are eligible for vaccination, from attending physical classes. There are no options for online classes either. Notably, a sero-survey had revealed in July 2021, that 69% of the children in Chandigarh already had Covid antibodies, due to past infection. Dr Jayaprakash Muliyil, an NTAGI member, had earlier said that there was no need to vaccinate children.

The Union Ministry of External Affairs announced that the Israel PM, who was scheduled to visit India on the invite of PM Modi, has been postponed.  Notably, PM Naftali Bennett tested positive for COVID-19 on March 28. Notably, since 2017, the two nations are working to strengthen their bilateral relations. In 2021, PM Modi met with their Israel counterpart and invited Israel PM. Mizoram Reports 1,280 New COVID-19 Cases, 1 Death In Last 24 Hours

A total of 1,280 new COVID-19 cases have been reported in Mizoram, while one person died due to the virus, in the last 24 hours. The total number of cases now in the state has gone up to 1,53,758, while the active caseload stands at 8,869, as per Information and Public relations department. Notably, the COVID-19 death toll in the state has risen to 573, after the recent death.

Court Works Curtails After 2 Die Of COVID-19 In Mathura: Uttar Pradesh

Mathura district judiciary in UP curtailed its functioning, amid spike in COVID-19 cases on January 17. District Judge Rajeev Bharti, issued the order, restricting litigants and staff entry without judge's permission. The decision was taken as per the Allahabad High Court orders, after two COVID-19 deaths in the region. French National Assembly Adopts Vaccine Pass Law

A law which transforms health pass into a vaccine pass with the motive to contain the spread of COVID-19, has been adopted by the French National Assembly. It was adopted by a vote of 215 for and 58 against, and after "debates-cum-discussions". Under the law, negative COVID-19 tests won't be sufficient to visit public places. Meanwhile, bars, restaurants and cafes are allowed to verify the identity of vaccine pass holders.

Andhra Pradesh Registers 4,570 New COVID-19 Cases

At least 4,570 fresh COVID-19 cases have been recorded in Andhra Pradesh in last 24 hours, taking overall percentage to 15%. In addition, 669 COVID-19 patients recovered, & one died in 24 hours.
