Govt Plans To Impose Surcharge On Liquor & Other Services To Fund Cow Welfare

The Madhya Pradesh government is planning to levy a surcharge on products such as liquor and services offered by local governments in order to raise Rs 100 Crore to fund the state's cow shelters. According to reports, the cow shelter board is in need of Rs 160 crores to feed the cows living in 1,300 shelters. Hence, CM Shivraj Chauhan asked the districts to give a proposal at the earliest.

Cow Should Be Declared As National Animal Of India: Allahabad HC

Hearing a bail petition, Allahabad High Court's Justice Shekhar Kumar Yadav has requested the government to declare 'cow' as a National Animal. Claiming the 'Fundamental Right of Hindus', Kumar urged the central govt to pass a bill that will protect the cows in the country. "Scientists believe that the cow is the only animal that inhales oxygen and exhales oxygen too,” said Justice Kumar.

Gau Rakshaks Assault Muslim Man In UP's Moradabad, Cops Book Him

A self-claimed cow vigilante group on May 23 assaulted a Muslim businessman in UP’s Moradabad for allegedly killing an animal. Filing a case against the group, the police recorded a counter case against the victim with charges under act of ‘mischief by killing an animal.' While four of the attackers were arrested, two as still on run. Reportedly, the meat seller had no permit for transporting meat amid lockdown.

Kamdhenu Aayog To Conduct Nationwide Cow Science Exam On Feb 25

In an effort to sensitise people about cows' sanctity, the Rashtriya Kamdehnu Aayog will hold an hour-long virtual  “Kamdhenu Gau Vigyan Prachar Prasar Examination” on February 25. Bihar Man Murdered Over Cattle Theft Suspicion; 6 Arrested

In a gruesome incident, a mob had beaten a man to death in Patna over doubts on cattle theft. The 32-year-old Muhammad Alamgir was thrashed by a group of six people for allegedly trying to steal cattle on December 16. Reportedly, the victim was admitted at a hospital, where he had succumbed to his injuries. As per reports, The Bihar Police have spontaneously arrested the accused.
