Cow slaughter

In Chhattisgarh’s Manendragarh, police arrested four persons for allegedly slaughtering cow. Reportedly the accused belonged to the same family. The police have also confiscated the weapon, with which the slaughter was committed. The police upon reaching the spot, found the cow’s carcass. A case has been filed against the accused under Cruelty to Animals Act. The police further stated that the family hail from Uttar Pradesh’s Allahabad.

Addressing an election-rally ahead of by-polls, Uttar Pradesh CM Yogi Adityanath said, anyone who kills bovines will be sent to jail. Calling cow-slaughter "unacceptable" he said, “Protecting cows is everyone’s responsibility”.
