Family Of 4 Arrested For Cow Slaughter In Chhattisgarh’s Manendragarh

In Chhattisgarh’s Manendragarh, police arrested four persons for allegedly slaughtering cow. Reportedly the accused belonged to the same family. The police have also confiscated the weapon, with which the slaughter was committed. The police upon reaching the spot, found the cow’s carcass. A case has been filed against the accused under Cruelty to Animals Act. The police further stated that the family hail from Uttar Pradesh’s Allahabad.

Curfew Announced In 2 Villages, Internet Suspended After Violent Protests Against Eid Cow Slaughter: Rajasthan

In Rajasthan's Hanumangarh, police detained 45 persons including a woman after protests turned violent. Also, a curfew has been imposed in two adjoining villages to bring the situation under control. Internet services have also been suspended to curb the spread of fake news. Reportedly, protests broke out demanding action against those involved in cow slaughter on Eid (July 11). The protest witnessed stone-pelting and baton charge.

UP: Allahabad High Court Slams Authorities For Misusing Cow Slaughter Act

The Allahabad High Court has lashed out at UP government authorities for misusing Prevention of Cow Slaughter Act "against innocents" as over half of arrests under National Security Act were for cow slaughter. Reportedly, the UP police, failing to produce evidences, could file closure reports in only 32 of the 4000 cases of cow slaughter. The court also blamed Gaushalas for not keeping the non-milching cattle or old cows.
