Elgar Parishad Case: NIA Opposes Jyoti Jagtap’s Bail Plea, Says ‘She Was Spreading Illegal Activities’
In the Elgar Parishad-Maoist links case, activist Jyoti Jagtap who was arrested has filed a bail plea in the Bombay High Court. The National Investigation Agency (NIA) claimed that Jagtap was spreading activities of the banned “terror group” CPI (Maoist) in urban areas. NIA further contended that Jagtap has been trained to use weapons and explosives in case of a combat, and is an active member of the group.

CPI(M) Member Hacked To Death In Suspected Political Rivalry: Kerala
Shajahan, a CPI(M) local committee member has been hacked to death in Kerala's Palakkad, on April 14. According to the police, Shajahan was attacked by five-eight people. The police further stated that "we suspect that this too is a part of political rivalry". The incident occurred near Shajahan's residence in Palakkad's Marutharode, at around 9:15 pm. Further details on the matter is awaited.

Bombs Hurled At RSS Office In Kerala's Kannur, Party Accuses CPI(M)
In Kerala's Kannur, bombs were hurled at Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) office in Payyannur area, on July 12. Reportedly, the attack occured at around 1 AM, and the party has blamed CPI(M) for it. Furthermore, the number of attacks are not known yet, and the CCTV footages from the area are being examined. The attack has come after recently bombs were hurled at CPI(M) state headquarters, on June 30.

SFI State Secretary PM Arsho Denied Bail By Kerala HC
Kerala High Court denied bail to State Secretary of Students' Federation of India (SFI) PM Arsho, in several cases including attempt to murder. The SFI is the student wing of CPI(M). PM Arsho was arrested on June 12 for violating bail conditions and was sent to 14-day judicial custody. Notably, when he was sent to a sub-jail in Kakkanad district, SFI workers accompanied him raising slogans and putting garlands.

Ex-Bengal CM Buddhadeb Bhattacharya Admitted For COVID Complications
West Bengal’s former CM Buddhadeb Bhattacharya was admitted to the hospital on May 25 morning as his oxygen levels started falling below 90 due to COVID-19 infection last week. It is known that the veteran CPI(M) leader was suffering from Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease for over a decade. Recently, the former CM's wife was discharged on May 24 after being hospitalised on May 18 due to COVID-related complications.

CPI(M) National General Secretary Sitaram Yechury on April 22 confirmed the death of his eldest son Ashish Yechury who passed away due to the COVID-19. Yechury informed about the tragedy through Twitter and wrote, "I want to thank all those who gave us hope and who treated him... and innumerable others who stood by us." Ashish (35) was a senior editor at a leading newspaper in Delhi.

Kerala: 98 CPI(M) Members Defect To BJP Ahead Of Assembly Polls
Ahead of the Kerala Assembly elections, 98 members of the CPI(M) defected to the BJP on February 23 in the presence of Union Minister Prahlad Joshi.
