Section 144 Of CrPC Imposed In Jamshedpur

Clashes erupted in Jharkhand's Jamshedpur after 'desecration' of a religious flag led to brick batting and arson between two groups, confirmed local sources. To control the situation, a prohibitory orders under Section 144 of CrPC are in force at Shastrinagar in Jharkhand’s Jamshedpur after shops and vehicles were set on fire during the clashes. Internet services have also been suspended, confirmed ANI sources.

Engineering Student Ends Life Over :Picture Shared On Facebook In Telangana

In an unfortunate incident, a third-year engineering student Rakshita was found hanging from a ceiling fan at her relatives' house in Warangal, Telangana. Occurred on February 26, the incident was said to be a case of suicide, due to a Facebook post, in which Rakshita was seen with a male friend. The Warangal police have registered a case and launched an investigation into the matter.read-more

Jamia Millia University Imposes Section 144 CrPC, Issues Notice

Jamia Millia Islamia has asked its students and teachers not to assemble in and around the campus as police have imposed restrictions under section 144 of the CrPC in the entire Okhla area. The notice was issued on September 26, after SHO of the Jamia Nagar police station informed about the restrictions amid information, that some people or groups may indulge in activities prejudicial to the maintenance of peace.

Section 144 Imposed For Sixth Consecutive Day In Bhaderwah Town: J&K

In the violence hit Bhaderwah town of J&K Doda district, curfew under section 144 I'd CrPC is imposed for the sixth consecutive day to maintain peace and order, on June 15. Internet services remain suspended and security forces are still deployed in the area. Restrictions imposed in Ramban and Kishtwar regions are being raised, however in a phase wise manner.

Srirangapatna Chalo Rally: Section 144 Of CrPC Imposed In Karnataka's Mandya, 500 Policemen Deployed

In Karnataka's Mandya, Section 144 of CrPC has been imposed in wake of the 'Srirangapatna Chalo' call given by Vishnu Hindu Parishad (VHP). The rule has been imposed for 12 hours (6:00 am to 6:00 pm), 500 police personnel have been deployed and weekly markets and liquor sale have been banned in the five-kilometre radius. Furthermore, CCTV cameras have been installed and masjid road has been closed.

Absconders Should Not Be Given Benefit Of Bail, Says SC Bench

The Supreme Court bench, comprising justices Dinesh Maheshwari and Aniruddha Bose cleared not to give the benefit of CrPC section 438 to an absconding accused. On May 25, the bench reviewed a petition and dismissed it saying, when an accused is absconding and declared a proclaimed offender, there is no question of giving him the benefit of bail. "An absonder ordinarily, deserves no concession or indulgence," said the bench.

Kerala High Court Dimisses Anticipatory Bail As Accused Appeared For Trial

During a court hearing, the Kerala High Court (HC) clarified, an accused can't file for anticipatory bail, after appearing for the trial. On January 31, during the legal proceedings of a case registered by Deputy Range Forest Officer, the High Court denied anticipatory bail to the accused. Mumbai Police Imposes Section 144 Till Jan 15: Omicron Threat

Amid the rising cases of Omicron, the Mumbai police imposed section 144 of the CrPC in the city, on December 31. The order issued by DCP (Operations) S Chaitanya came into effect from 1 pm and will continue till January 15. It restricts people from visiting public places such as beaches, open grounds, sea faces, promenades, gardens, and parks between 5 pm and 5 am every day.
