Meghalaya CM Conrad Sangma Allots 10 Acres Land For CRPF To Set Up Permanently Camps
The state government of Meghalaya has allotted 10 acres of land to the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF). The allotment letter of the 10 acres of land in Shillong Township has been handed over on September 8. The land will reportedly be used to set up a permanent base. With this, CRPF personnel posted at several temporary camps, will be shifted to the newly allotted permanent camp.

Terrorists Open Fire At J&K's Pulwama; 1 CRPF Official Dead
In Jammu and Kashmir's Pulwama district, terrorists opened fire at Gangoo crossing from a nearby apple orchard, on July 17. The shoot out injured Assistant Sub-Inspector Vinod Kumar, who later succumbed to his injuries in a nearby hospital. Following the incidents, reinforcements rushed to the spot, and an operation to track down the terrorists has been initiated. Further details are awaited.

CRPF Commando Drowns In River While Trying To Rescue Comrade: Chhattisgarh
CRPF Commando Suraj R (27), passed away by way of drowning, while trying to rescue assistant commandant from getting washed away in a river. Suraj hailed from Kerala's Kollam, and was posted in Chhattisgarh's Sukma. The incident occurred while they were returning from an anti-maoist operation in Sukma. Chandan, the official Suraj tried to save, was rescued. "He saved me and I can never forget his smiling face," said Chandan.

Z+ Security Provided To NDA Presidential Candidate Droupadi Murmu
NDA presidential candidate Droupadi Murmu (64) has been granted "Z+" security by the Central government. The security is provided by CRPF personnel, and commenced on June 22. The move has come a day after BJP announced Murmu as the NDA presidential candidate. Notably, if elected, Murmu will become the first tribal and the second woman to become the president of India.

CRPF Constable Slits Wrist, Dies By Suicide In Bijapur: Chhattisgarh
In a tragic incident, CRPF Constable Mohan, who hailed from Haryana, slit his wrist and died by suicide, for reasons unknown, on May 24. The incident occurred in Chhattisgarh's Bijapur district, at the camp of CRPF's 170th battallion located at Jaitaloor road. Soon after the incident, officials rushed to the spot and sent the body for autopsy. Furthermore, Mohan's body has been sent to his native village in Haryana.

Maoist Surrenders Before Police In Odisha's Kalahandi
In Odisha's Kalahandi district, a Maoist identified as Lalsu surrendered before DIG Rajesh Pandit, SP Kalahandi Savarna Vivek, and CRPF Commandant Biplab Sarka on May 2. J&K Police Arrests Terrorists Who Killed Off-Duty CRPF Jawan
In J&K's Srinagar area, the UT police, on March 13, arrested a terrorist accused of killing a CRPF Jawan and recovered one pistol. Meanwhile, one overground worker who accompanied the accused has been also arrested, informed IGP Vijay Kumar. 'Terror crime was committed in the direction of LeT Cmdr Abid Ramzan Sheikh," said Kashmir Police. However, the case has been registered and an investigation is underway.

1 Militant Shot Dead In Search Operation Turned Gunfight: J&K
A search operation turned gunfight broke out in South Kashmir's Anantnag district, on December 24. As per sources, the search operation is underway, and is being conducted jointly by J&K police, Army and CRPF. "So far, one unidentified militant has been killed," said police. On December 22, an Assistant Sub-inspector of the J&K police was shot dead by terrorists in the Anantnag district.

CRPF Jawans Become 'Brothers' In Martyred Soldier's Sister's Wedding: UP
The wedding of Joyti, a sister of martyred CRPF soldier Shailendra Pratap Singh, became special when CRPF jawans came to perform all the rituals on behalf of her late brother in Uttar Pradesh's Rae Bareli. The jawans reportedly presented gifts and carried the veil above her. ''My son is no longer in this world but now we've so many sons in the form of CRPF soldiers,'' said Singh's father.
