After the win of CSK, MS Dhoni fans were even delighted after he confirmed that the 2023 IPL is not his last season. After the IPL finals, the media asked Dhoni the million-dollar question, about his retirement. In response, the Chennai Super Kings Captain said, "The tough thing for me is to work hard for another 9 months and come back and play at least 1 more season of IPL."

Former Indian Cricketer Harbhajan Singh disclosed that there was a rare occasion when Dhoni shed tears in the presence of his Chennai Super Kings (CSK) teammates. In an interview, Singh said, "Back in 2018, when CSK made a comeback to this league after a 2-year ban, there was a team dinner. MS Dhoni cried on that night. He became emotional." The team came back after 2-years and won the trophy.

In the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 opener game, which started on March 31, Gujarat Titans overshine MS Dhoni-led Chennai Super Kings (CSK.) In the game, the Hardik Pandya-led team won the first IPL match with five wickets. The win over four-time champion CSK is a definite answers to those who doubted the last year's defending champions. Speaking of scorecard, GT scored 182 runs/5 wickets and CSK scored 178/7 runs.

Royal Challengers Bangalore broke their three-match losing streak by defeating Chennai Super Kings by 13 runs and won the match at MCA stadium in Pune on May 4. RCB defeated CSK with bowling efforts of Harsh Patel, Glenn Maxwell and fighting knocks from Rituraj Gaikwad, Moeen Ali, Devon Conway. According to RCB skipper Faf du Plessis they are moving towards rights direction. RCB are now at the fourth spot.  

Tamil Nadu CM MK Stalin stated that he wishes to see MS Dhoni play for IPL franchise Chennai Super Kings (CSK) for seasons to come. CM Stalin further said that his father Karunanidhi was also his fan. He also congratulated Dhoni and his team on winning the tournament this year. "His state is Jharkhand but he is now like a loveable boy of Tamil Nadu," added CM Stalin.
