NASA’s Curiosity Rover Suggests Life On Mars; Finds Carbon In Rocks

The Curiosity rover present on Mars has found several samples rich in a particular type of carbon. For the research, Scientists collected 24 samples from the Gale crater on Mars and heated it to about 850° Celsius. ''We’re looking at what else could have caused the carbon signature we’re seeing, if not life,” said Paul Mahaffy, one of the leading investigators. The Rover had landed on Mars in 2012.

NASA's MRO Spots Curiosity Rover Climbing Mount Sharp On Mars

NASA's Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter has shared a bird's eye view picture of Curiosity rover as it flew past the Red Planet's Mount Sharp at an altitude of 269.4 kms. The rover had landed on Mars in August 2012, and has been climbing Mount Sharp since 2014, examining the area's rock deposits to determine the cause of the planet's desertification. MRO's sharp-eyed HiRISE camera consistently keeps an eye on the rover.

NASA Perseverance Rover Extracts 10 Mins Of Breathable Air On Mars

Following a successful helicopter flight, NASA's perseverance rover carrying Mars Oxygen In-Situ Resource Utilization Experiment (MOXIE) has extracted 10 minutes of breathable air on Mars i.e., five grams of oxygen. MOXIE extracted oxygen atoms from CO2 molecules and its capacity is 10 grams of oxygen per hour. NASA's Space Technology Mission Directorate’s associate administrator Jim Reuter vowed to create rocket propellant and breathable air… read-more

Study Suggests Megafloods In Mars' Gale Crater; Hints Life In Past

In a recent study published in Scientific Reports, traces of 'megaripples' or 'antidunes' from a megaflood, which has washed through Gale crater on Mars' equator have been discovered. As per NASA's curiosity rover, the ripples has suggested that the flood occurred from ice-melting due to heat generated by a meteoric impact. While comparisons are being drawn between Earth and Mars, scientists are convinced that Mars sustained life in… read-more

NASA Releases Curiosity Rover's Selfie From 'Mary Anning' Site Of Mars

NASA has recently released a selfie that was sent by Curiosity rover from the 'Mary Anning' site of Mars, where it is conducting drilling experiments. According to NASA, Curiosity's selfie, taken on October 25, is made of "59 pictures stitched together by imaging specialists". The rover is exploring the location since July while collecting dust and rock samples which, according to the scientists, will take several months to be analyzed.
