Google Chrome To Have Special Biometric Security For Incognito Mode
Google Chrome brings in a new fingerprint verification feature for incognito mode. The new feature will provide privacy and safety to users, especially at a time when cybercrime and online frauds are on the massive rise. "You can require biometric authentication when you resume an Incognito session that was interrupted. This is available to all Chrome users on iOS and currently rolling out to Android users," said Google.

Cybercrime Increases By 11% With Over 50,000 Cases: NCRB
National Crime Record Bureau (NCRB) reported 11% rise in cybercrime, in 2020. On February 10, the Union Home Ministry panel said, in 2020, a total of 50,035 cases of cybercrime were registered, compared to 44,735 cases in 2019. The panel noted that states like Punjab, Haryana and Rajasthan does not have a single cybercrime cell, whereas AP, Karnataka and UP has one cell, advising the MHA to ensure setup.

Sushant Singh's 'Fan' Arrested For Sending Death Threats To Aditya Thackeray
Jaysingh Rajput, a 34-year-old man has been arrested by a team of cyber police in Bengaluru for sending death threats to Maharashtra CM's son Aditya Thackeray. He blamed the Maharashtra minister for actor Sushant Singh Rajput's death. "You killed Sushant Singh Rajput," read a message Jaysingh sent to the minister on WhatsApp. The accused has been booked under various sections of IPC and IT Act.

India Is Second Most Targeted Country For Cyber Attacks: Study
An IISS study on cyber power showed that India was subjected to frequent cyber-attacks in 2019 and 2020. In India, over 394,499 cases were reported in 2019, and 2020 saw a surge in attacks, particularly from China. India is claimed to be in the third-tier of cyber power as the country's cyber power is still under development. After the US, India was the second-most targeted country for ransomware attacks in 2020.

2.5 Million Airtel Users' Data Leaked; Include Aadhar, Phone Number
Security expert Rajsekhar Rajaharia revealed that the confidential details of over 2.5 million Airtel users had been leaked online. Rajasekhar claimed that the breached data include Aadhaar, address, names, phone numbers of users. Moreover, the hacker team 'The Red Rabbit' stole data from different states and has demanded a ransom of $3,500. While Rajsekhar showed proof Airtel negotiating with hackers, the company denied any data breach.

PTI Services Down For Hours As Servers Face Ransomware Attack
India's premier news agency Press Trust of India's services were down for hours as it recently suffered a ransomware attack. The ransomware, identified as 'LockBit', breached the agency's server at 10 PM on October 24. Noida: Unknown People Use Photos Of IT Executive For Sex Trade
A 40-year-old woman filed a police complaint in Noida alleging that her pictures posted on social media are being used by unknown gang indulged in immoral activities. The woman, a senior executive of an IT company, told that the gang was circulating her pictures on Facebook and WhatsApp for sexual favours demanding Rs. 4,000-15,000. Gujarat: Cops Pose As Tourists To Solve A Cybercrime Case
A police team from Gujarat's Ahmedabad personated as tourists to arrest cybercriminals who had been cheating people on pretext of completing the Paytm KYC procedure. The police team was helped by the initially arrested accused Sohail Pathan and his partner. Reportedly, the case came into limelight after a lawyer was duped Rs 11 lakh. Cops arrested two men, identified as 20-year-old Shivam Gupta and Ajay Mandal, from Jharkhand's Jamtara.
