Sonu Sood Announces Rs 1 Crores Towards Cybersecurity Initiative

Actor Sonu Sood's NGO has announced the launch of the "Mera Bharat, Surakshit Bharat Initiative" in association with EC-Council, the world’s largest cybersecurity certification body. On February 1, the Bollywood actor said, he has pledged an amount of Rs 1 crores for the cybersecurity initiative. "Our country is facing a significant resource crisis in cybersecurity, and I am proud to be a part of the solution," said Sood.

Google Chrome To Have Special Biometric Security For Incognito Mode

Google Chrome brings in a new fingerprint verification feature for incognito mode. The new feature will provide privacy and safety to users, especially at a time when cybercrime and online frauds are on the massive rise. "You can require biometric authentication when you resume an Incognito session that was interrupted. This is available to all Chrome users on iOS and currently rolling out to Android users," said Google.

Cyber Security Breach By Military Officials, Probe Underway

A high-level probe has been launched after some cyber-security breach committed by some military officials came to light. On April 19, a possible link with some espionage-related acts by another country has been reported by officials. A defense source has revealed that the breach had been found on some WhatsApp groups. The sources have stated that action would be taken against those found guilty, as per the Official Secrets Act.

VPNs Are Threat To India's Security, Suggests Parliamentary Panel To Govt

The usage of VPNs in India is expected to be blocked by the Indian government. The Parliamentary Standing Committee on Home Affairs has recommended the govt for the second time block them with the help of Internet service providers. According to the committee, criminals use VPN to ''bypass cybersecurity walls'' and also use them to remain anonymous. Besides, the committee also urges to establish more cyber forensic laboratories.

Cyberattack Hits 200 Businesses In United States

A cyberattack targeted Kaseya's computer network management tool, leading the US IT firm to advise organizations to halt servers to avoid ransomware. "We are in the process of investigating the root cause of the incident, but we recommend that you immediately shut down your VSA server until you receive further notice from us," Kaseya said in Reddit. Reportedly, about 200 businesses were encrypted.

India Secures 10th Place In The Global Cybersecurity Index 2020

With a score of 97.5 points out of 100, India has been ranked as the tenth best country in the Global Cybersecurity Index 2020 by the International Telecommunication Union on June 29. Besides, India has moved up by 37 names among the other countries and secured the fourth position in the Asia Pacific region. However, the US bags 1st place, and the UK shares 2nd position with Saudi Arabia.
