IMD Predicts Heavy To Moderate Rainfall In North-Eastern States: Cyclone Jawad
The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) on December 5, predicted heavy rainfall in isolated regions of north-eastern states like Mizoram, Meghalaya and Tripura, on December 6. In addition, the IMD issued rain alert in West Bengal cities and coastal regions, as an effect of the recent Cyclone Jawad. The cyclone formed at Bay of Bengal has now weakened into a low depression, bringing moderate rainfall for the next 24 hours.

Cyclone Jawad Weakens Into Depression; IMD Issues Heavy Rainfall Alert
As per IMD, Cyclone Jawad weakened into depression, on December 5. Although, it will reportedly bring heavy to very heavy rainfall in the coastal region of Andhra Pradesh, Odisha and West Bengal. The IMD issued an "Orange Alert" in all regions, asking people not to venture out with an exception for emergency. As per sources, relief measures are being carried out in all the cyclone affected regions.

65 Trains Cancelled In Visakhapatnam Due To Cyclone Jawad
In Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh (AP), a total of 65 trains were cancelled due to "cyclone Jawad." The East Coast Railway Divisional Manager AK Tripathi on December 3 informed about the cancelled trains, scheduled for December 3 and 4. Reportedly, schools and colleges in Srikakulam and Visakhapatnam will also remain closed for December 4. Meanwhile, the Centre sent 46 NDRF teams for the flood relief measures in the state.

IMD Issues Cyclone 'Jawad' Alert For Andhra Pradesh, Odisha
The IMD issued a Cyclone ''Jawad'' alert for the coastal region of Andhra Pradesh and Odisha. Reportedly, a low pressure formed in Thailand and the Andaman Sea will intensify as it moves over the southeast Bay of Bengal by December 2. It will turn into a cyclone with a wind speed of 90 to 100 km/hr by December 4. It may cause heavy to heavy rainfall.
