Cyclone Yaas Caused Loss Of Rs 610 Crore: Odisha Government
Odisha has suffered an estimated loss of Rs 610 crore due to the recent natural catastrophe, Cyclone Yaas. The state government has pegged the amount after a review meeting and it stated that the loss of Rs 520 crore was to the public sector while the private sector suffered damages worth Rs 90 crore. Notably, about 60 lakh people in 11,000 villages in the state were affected by the cyclone.

'Orange' Flood Warning In 3 States; 'Red' Alert In Jharkhand, Bihar
After heavy downpours in several states due to Cyclone Yaas, the Central Water Commission on May 26 issued an 'Orange bulletin' predicting floods in Odisha, Kerala, and Tamil Nadu. Cyclone 'Yaas' Likely To Make Landfall At Odisha Around May 26 Noon
According to the IMD forecasts, the Cyclone Yaas as named by Oman will likely make a landfall at the Odisha and Bengal coast around May 26 noon. With state governments already watchful over the conditions, the Indian Coast Guard have been deployed to deal with cyclone urging people to stay safe. The authorities have also requested people out in the sea to return to land as soon as possible.

Bengal Govt Deploys Special Team, Control Room Ahead Of Cyclone Yaas
The West Bengal government has taken necessary precautions for cyclone Yass expected to make landfall on May 26. Creating control rooms, the authorities have planned to deploy 22 disaster management groups with tree cutters and electric technicians to help power outages. The police have also roped a team of HAM radio operators from WB Radio Club to assist. PM Modi held a review meeting on May 23 to check preparedness.

Cyclone Yaas Likely To Landfall In May End: IMD Warns Bengal, Odisha
BThe Indian Meteorological Department has warned Odisha and West Bengal of Cyclone 'Yaas' which is expected to hit in May end. However, the date, time, place and intensity of the landfall are yet to be announced. Directing the officials to stay alert and start the operations for relief procedures, Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee asked authorities to deploy Coast guard, BSF, NDRF units at vulnerable points.
