Asia's Largest Tulip Garden Reopens For Tourists In J&K

Asia's largest Tulip Garden in Kashmir, having Dal Lake view is now open for tourists, from March 23. Jammu & Kashmir Chief Secretary Arun Kumar Mehta announced the garden to be open for the next six months, and expected to see heavy footfall. Inaugurated by Ghulam Nabi Azad in 2008, the 'Tulip Garden' was formerly known as Siraj Bagh and has over 1.5 million flowers, including 68 varieties of tulips.

J&K Govt Declares Dal, Wular, 4 Other Lakes As Protected Wetlands

The J&K Wetland Authority on March 31 announced to declare Kashmir’s Wular, Dal and Nigeen lakes, and Jammu’s Sanasar, Manasbal and Purmandal lakes as protected wetlands. J&K: Dal Lake To Soon Have First-ever Boat Ambulance Service

Jammu and Kashmir will be getting its first-ever boat ambulance soon on the Dal Lake. A local resident, Tariq Ahmad Patloo, has come up with this idea after he contracted COVID-19 and visited a doctor using his friend’s boat. Tariq, who himself owns a houseboat, said the 35-feet long boat will have basic facilities including oxygen cylinder, ECG, wheelchair, stretcher and a toll-free number to contact.

Shikara Overturns In Jammu And Kashmir's Dal Lake During BJP's Rally

A Shikara (wooden boat) used by BJP members for election campaigning had overturned on December 13 in Jammu and Kashmir's Dal Lake. Reportedly, four BJP leaders and several cameramen fell into the water and were later rescued by the locals and the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF). The party's unique shikara rally had been led by Union Minister Anurag Thakur for the Kashmir District Development Council elections.
