Daughters Doesn't Lose Right On Property Even If Given Dowry, Court
A Goa bench of Bombay Court reviewed a peition and gave a historic judgement, saying a daughter has rights on their ancestral property. The court said, even if a daughter is given dowry, she doesn't lose rights on the family property.The court declared that the Plaintiff has an undivided right in the same and permanent injunction restraining the Defendants from transferring or conveying the said property, in the peitition.

Hyderabad: Tired of Abusive Father, Minor Girls Strangle Him to Death
On the night of August 9, two minor girls aged 16 and 17, strangled their alcoholic father to death, unable to take his physical and mental abuse anymore. According to Hyderabad inspector A Ganga Reddy, the accused identified as, M Raju (45), had been consuming alcohol everyday and abusing his daughters, since his wife's death eight months ago. A case of murder has been registered against the two minors.

SC Amends Hindu Succession Act; Daughters to Get Equal Rights in Parental Property
The Supreme Court on August 11, ruled that daughters and sons will have equal legal rights in 'parental property', even if the father died before the Hindu Succession (Amendment) Act 2005 came into force i.e September 9, 2005, contradicting its previous judgement.
