Russia Defeats Croatia To Win Davis Cup After 15 Years
Russia's Daniil Medvedev defeated Croatia's Marin Cilic to win the Davis Cup in Madrid on December 6. Medvedev secured the match by 7-6 (7), 6-2 against Cilic. The win has come after 2006 when Russia won its first Davis Cup, reported PTI. ''I'm more happy for the team than for myself,'' said Medvedev. Earlier, Russia's Andrey Rublev also won against Croatia's Borna Gojo, giving Russia a lead.

Ailing Indian tennis legend Akhtar Ali died at 83 in the early hours of February 7 in Kolkata. Known for his coaching style, Akhtar Ali had influenced several ace players, including Leander Paes and his own son Zeeshan Ali – current coach of the Davis Cup.
