Akasa Airline Seeks Intervention Of Delhi HC Over Pilot's Resignation

Akasa Airlines filed a petition in the Delhi High Court, seeking intervention into the recent mass resignation of pilots. Notably, the airline is going through a shortage of pilots, as 43 pilots submitted their resignation, to join rival airlines, leading to a potential shutdown. The Airline, which is cancelling over 21 flights a day, is suffering huge losses and also sought action by the Director General of Civil Aviation.

Air India Pilot Suspended And Fined Of Rs 30 Lakhs

During an Air India Flight Al-915 (Delhi-Dubai), the pilots invited their female friend into the cockpit.  As a result, the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has fined the airline Rs. 30 lakhs for not promptly and effectively addressing this safety-sensitive issue. The pilot has also been suspended by the Civil Aviation Department. The matter came to light after one of the operating crew complaint about it to Air India.

Air Asia Fined Rs 20 Lakh For Pilot Training Violations

The Director General of Civil Aviation (DCGA) imposed a hefty fine of Rs 20 lakhs on Air Asia, owned by Tata Groups, on February 11. AirAsia India was fined for breaking some rules pertaining to pilot training. In addition, DCGA also ordered three-month suspension of the airline's head of training. Notably, On January 23, AirAsia India allegedly violated aviation norms with respect to pilot proficiency checks and instrument rating tests.

DCGA Extends Restriction On Operation Of SpiceJet Till October 29

The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) extended restrictions on the low-cost airline SpiceJet to operate only 50% of departures till October 29, 2022.  On September 21, the DGCA, India's airline and airport regulatory body released a statement in this regard and also appreciated the reduction in a number of safety incidents. The DCGA issued a showcase notice to SpiceJet on July 6, amid safety concerns after many incidents.

DGCA Remove Pilot Of Prominent Airlines For Failing CAR Drug Test

The Director General of Civil Aviation removed a pilot of a prominent airline from flight duty after he failed a drug test, confirmed official on August 26. Furthermore, with this so far, four pilots of airlines failed the required civil aviation requirement (CAR) drug test. Notably, the procedure for examination of aviation personnel for consumption of psychoactive substances came into effect on January 31, conducted on a random basis.

DCGA Issues Warning, Asks Airlines To Mandate Mask Wearing

The Director General of Civil Aviation (DCGA) asked Indian airlines to mandate mask-wearing, amid the rising number of Covid-19 cases in India. On August 17, the DCGA said, if a passenger shows disagreement to comply with the Covid-19 protocols, strict actions will be taken against the passenger. The aviation ministry also warned to put passengers under "unruly" list and no flying list.

DCGA Issues Guidelines For Airlines For Disabled Persons Onboard

The Director General of Civil Aviation (DCGA) issued guidelines for airlines, in India after a recent incident of onboard refusal to a disabled passenger. On July 22, the DCGA said, "Under the amended rule, Airline shall not refuse carriage of any person on the basis of disability and/or reduced mobility if it happens then airlines have informed the passenger with a disability in writing with the reason therein immediately".

SpiceJet Flight Reports Nose Wheel Malfunction, 9th Glitch In 24 Days

In another technical issue, SpiceJet had to do an emergency landing of its Dubai-Madurai flight.
