The pilgrimage Amarnath Yatra turned tragic for 50-year-old Vijay Kumar Shah. On August 18 night, while returning from the holy Amarnath cave, Vijay slipped to a 300-meter-deep down, resulting in his death. He was rescued by the Indian Army but was found dead, confirmed the J&K police. Notably, Vijay Kumar Shah was from Tumba village in Rohtas District, Bihar and was on a pilgrimage yatra with one Mamta Kumari.
Three Army soldiers were killed in an encounter with terrorists in Jammu and Kashmir's Kulgam district on Friday, officials said. According to the police, two buses collided head-on at around 2.30 am on NH 53 at Nandur Naka flyover in Malkapur area, Maharashtra. A 28-year-old man allegedly committed suicide in the general lockup of the Borivali police station on July 28. Deepak Jadhav hanged himself at around 8.10 am, said the police, adding that he was rushed to the Shatabdi Hospital where he was declared dead at 8.45am. Giving further details, cops said the deceased lived in Ramchandra Bhandari Chawl, Borivali West and was arrested for a murder case, and was remanded.
Noted Marathi actor and director Ravindra Mahajani was found dead at his rented apartment in Pune. His mortal remains were recovered from a flat in Pune's Talegaon Dabhade locality after neighbours complained of 'foul smell' emanating from the apartment, on July 14. According to cops, Mahajani, aged 74, had been staying alone in the Pune flat until his unfortunate demise. A case has been registered and investigation is underway.
A tragic accident on the Delhi-Meerut Express highway killed five and left one eight-year-old child injured. The deadly accident occurred in Ghaziabad on July 11, morning. A school bus, with no children allegedly coming from the wrong direction collided with an SUV leading to the death of five people. The deceased were sent to hospital for postmortem and a case has been launched for further investigation.

Due to heavy rainfall and flash floods in Himachal Pradesh, six people died and as many as ten people were injured. On June 26, the Himachal Pradesh National Disaster Management confirmed the deceased people and said, "303 animals were also reportedly died." In addition, property worth Rs 3 crore, and 124 roads and national highways were damaged. More details into the matter are awaited, said Himachal Pradesh Police.
