Singapore Executes Indian-Origin Man For Drug Trafficking

Punjab-origin Kalwant Singh, from Malaysia, along with another person, have been executed for the offence of drug trafficking. Singh became the second Indian-origin person to be hanged in Singapore for the offence of drug trafficking in the past three months. According to Singaporean laws, death penalty is inevitable, for persons caught for traficking heroin of 15 grams or more.

Kanhaiya Lal's Wife Demands Death Penalty For Husband's Murderers: Udaipur

The wife of Kanhaiya Lal, who was killed brutally in Udaipur, Rajasthan, demanded the death penalty for her husband's murderer. The killing of a tailor in Udaipur has created a national ruckus, with political parties and leaders coming in support of the family.  Notably, Kanhaiya, who supported suspended BJP MP Nupur Sharma, was getting threats and was murdered by two unidentified people. He even wrote to police, demanding security.

SC Confirms Death Penalty To Convict In Case Of Kidnap, Rape & Killing Of Mentally Challenged Minor Girl

The apex court on June 24, confirmed an award sentencing a man to death for the offence of kidnap, rape and murder of a physically and mentally challenged minor girl. The Supreme Court noted that Manoj Pratap Singh kidnapped a seven-year-old mentally and physically challenged minor girl on a stolen motorcycle and raped her inhumanely. "There is absolutely no reason to commute the sentence of death", said SC bench.

Mentally Challenged Man Hanged In Singapore Over Decade-Old Drug Case

A 34-year-old mentally challenged man was hanged till death in Singapore, in connection with more than a decade-old drug case. Nagaenthran K Dharmalingam had been convicted of importing heroin; and he was subsequently sentenced to death in 2010. He was scheduled to be executed last year, but it was deferred after his mother had, in a last-ditch attempt, filed another legal challenge. But it could not overturn the death sentence.

Punjab Amends Law Of Death Penalty To Counterfeit Liquor Sellers

The Punjab cabinet, by amending the Punjab Excise Act, 2014 has initiated death penalty provision for those selling spurious liquor in the state. Bihar: Man Gets Death Sentence For Raping, Murdering 9-year-old Girl

Bihar man has been punished with death sentence for raping and murdering a 9-year-old girl. Pronouncing the judgment on February 20, a local court of Gopalganj district concluded the hearing within six months of the case being registered. Reportedly, the victim's dead body was recovered from the accused, Jai Kishore Shah's house on August 25, 2020. The punishment has been given under the sections of the IPC and POCSO Act.
