TMC Leader Mahua Moitra Files Defamation Case In Querries For Cash Allegations
Trinamool Congress (TMC) MP Mahua Moitra filed a defamation suit on Tuesday against Bharatiya Janata Party MP Nishikant Dubey, Supreme Court lawyer Jai Anant Dehadrai and several news organisations in the Delhi high court. The development comes after Dubey and Dehadrai alleged that Moitra received cash and gifts as bribes to ask questions in the Lok Sabha, a claim that she denied as “completely baseless”.

Rahul Gandhi is reinstated as the Member of Parliament (MP) of Wayanad, Karnataka. The Supreme Court (SC) recently stayed the conviction orders of the Gujarat High Court (HC) against Rahul Gandhi, in the 2019 Modi Surname Defamation Case. The stay on Gandhi’s conviction made him eligible to return to the Lok Sabha, and had to wait for a formal order from the secretariat to re-enter the Lok Sabha.

The Congress in Wayanad and Delhi started a celebration as the Supreme Court's verdict in the 2019 Modi Surname Defamation case was in favour of the disqualified MP, Rahul Gandhi. The party said, finally the judiciary system did justice and stayed the conviction orders of the Gujarat High Court, which announced two-year imprisonment for Rahul Gandhi, leading to his disqualification as MP. SC Stays Conviction Of Rahul Gandhi In Modi Surname Defamation Case
The Supreme Court heard the petition seeking a stay on the conviction of Rahul Gandhi in the 2019 Modi Surname Defamation Case, and issued a stay order. With the major development, the Lok Sabha membership of Gandhi will be reinstated. On August 4, the Top Court bench said, "The trial court had not given a reason for imposing the maximum sentence of 2 years imprisonment."

Congress To Move Supreme Court In 2019 Defamation Case
Rahul Gandhi, the Indian National Congress (INC) leader decided to move to the Supreme Court, challenging the Gujarat High Court. Notably, on July 7, the Gujarat High Court (HC) rejected his plea, seeking suspension of his 2 year conviction in the 2019 Modi Surname Defamation Case. Delhi HC Issues Summon To BBC Over PM Modi Documentary
The matter of BBC's controversial documentary on "PM Narendra Modi" reached the Delhi HC. The court issued a summon to the BBC after a NGO filed a defamation case, saying the documentary casts a slur on the reputation of India. In the plea, the NGO's lawyer said, " documentary makes defamatory imputation and cast a slur on the reputation of the country." Reacting to it, HC issued summon orders.

Punjab Court Summons Mallikarjun Kharge In Defamation Case
A Punjab court on Monday summoned Congress party chief Mallikarjun Kharge in a Rs 100 cores defamation case over the party equating the banned Islamic outfit Popular Front of India (PFI) with the Bajrang Dal, the youth wing of the Sangh-affiliated Vishwa Hindu Parishad, in its Karnataka Assembly election manifesto. Session Court Grants Bail To Rahul Gandhi In 2019 Defamation Case
In a relief to Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, the Surat Session Court approves bail for him in the 2019 Defamation Case. In the court hearing, the court granted the bail for "Why all Modis are thieves" remark and adjourned the matter to May 3.
