US Approves $285 Million Sale Of NASAMS Air Defence System To Ukraine
Amid the urgent need for a defence system to Ukraine, the United States announced the approval of a $285 million sale of a NASAMS air defence system. Besides the defence, the United States Government also approved other equipment for Ukraine. Notably, after a recent drone attack, Kyiv needs a boost in protection against Russian strikes. Ukraine's air defenses have played a key role in protecting the country from strikes.

PM Modi Inaugurates 14th Aerospace & Defence Exhibition In Bengaluru
PM Narendra Modi inaugurated Aero Show, in Bengaluru, on February 13. This is the 14th edition of India's largest aerospace and defence exhibition in India. During the inauguration, PM Modi said, that aerospace is a great opportunity for 'Make In India' and "We must work to increase innovation in defence." The five-day event will be held in Bengaluru, with the participation of 100 nations, including over 700 exhibitors from India.

Indian Army To Have New Regiments Of Akash Prime Air Defence System
The Indian Army is set to have two new regiments of the Akash Prime missile air defence system. The proposal is currently at an advanced stage. This comes as a big boost in the Indian military's ability to shoot down incoming missiles and drones from external forces. This announcement comes after the army's western and south western commands conducted test firings of the currently existing Akash missiles.

Court Summons Former Defence Secy In Agusta Westland Case
Acting on a supplementary charge-sheet filed by the CBI last month, a Special Court has summoned ex-Indian Defence Secretary Shashi Kant Sharma and four former IAF officials in the Agusta Westland corruption case. All the accused are supposed to appear before the court on April 28. Notably, the CBI alleges that certain parameters pertaining to the helicopter had been altered to profit the Agusta Westland company.

Brahmos Supersonic Cruise Missile Successfully Test-Fired From INS Visakhapatnam
Indian Navy test-fired a naval variant of supersonic BrahMos cruise missile from the guided-missile destroyer off the western seaboard, on February 18. DRDO Successfully Flight Tests 'Abhyas' High-Speed Expendable Aerial Target
Abhyas, a High-speed Expendable Aerial Target (HEAT) was successfully tested by the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO). The trial was carried out from the integrated test range, Chandipur of the coast of Bay of Bengal in Odisha, which was tracked using radars and electro-optic equipment. The move is believed to provide India with much better defence training and a realistic scenario for practicing "weapon system".
