In Uttarakhand’s Dehradun, the State Disaster Relief Force (SDRF) has rescued five persons who were stranded on an island in Sahaspur river. The rescue operation was initiated after SDRF received a call about the same. Reportedly, persons were stranded on the island after water levels of the river increased due to rainfall. The stranded persons were then brought back to shore using a raft.
Uttarakhand CM Pushkar Singh Dhanush has announced a portal to facilitate suggestions on Uniform Civil Code (UCC). The chairman and members of the expert committee met CM Dhami in the secretariat and held a discussion on the matter. An approval was given in the first cabinet meeting, constituting an expert committee. Furthermore, Dhami lauded the committee’s work so far, and said that it has worked “expeditiously”.
The Uttarakhand police have arrested as many as 20 people in the case relating to Uttarakhand Subordinate Services Selection Commission (UKSSSC) paper leak. Reportedly, the latest arrest in the case was made on August 18. According to the police, the Special Task Force (STF) which was constituted, managed to break the link between mastermind Hakam and the copying mafia of Uttar Pradesh.
The Uttarakhand police will soon arrest YouTuber Bobby Kataria for alleged drinking and threatening the police. He also sat on a chair and stopped the traffic in the middle of the road in the capital city of Dehradun. A section of the Badrinath National Highway-7 (NH-7) in Uttarakhand was destroyed because of rising water in the Khachda drain near Lambagad. In Uttarakhand's Ramanagar, a car was washed away in Dhela river, killing at least nine persons, on July 8. Also, one person was rescued from the incident. Reportedly, the incident occurred at around 5 am, and four bodies have been retrieved. Meanwhile, five bodies are still trapped in the car. According to the Deputy Inspector General of Police Nilesh Anand Bharan, the car is badly stuck.
In Uttarakhand's Dehradun, a15-year-old juvenile has been arrested for raping a five-star hotel's housekeeping staff (24), confirmed police on June 19. After Uttarakhand government allowed Dharm Sansad event despite prior notice, the Supreme Court expressed its dissatisfaction on the matter, on April 26. Also, at the event which is to be held in Roorkee, the apex court also asked the chief secretary to ensure that "no hate speeches are made". The Supreme Court also asked a top official to file and affidavit, explaining the preventing measures taken.
In a tragic incident, two youngsters were killed as their car collided with a tractor near Mandurpur, on the Dehradun-Delhi National Highway, on April 17. The incident occurred when two youths were on their way to Dehradun, from Delhi. As per sources, driver of the tractor sustained minor injuries. Reportedly, the bodies have been sent for post-mortem.

The Uttarakhand Government has signed an MoU with Meditrina Hospitals of Kerala for better treatment of heart patients. On March 17, the MoU was signed between Dr. Tripti Bahuguna, Director General, and Dr. N Prathap Kumar, Chairman and Managing Director of Meditrina Hospital. "The special thing about this will be that treatment and surgery related to heart disease in children can also be done here," said Praveen Tiwari.
