India's 'Delhi Crime' Bags Best Drama Series Award At International Emmys

Netflix's Indian web series 'Delhi Crime' has been awarded as the 'Best Drama Series' at the 2020 International Emmy Awards. The series is based on the investigation of the '2012 Delhi gangrape case' and is directed by Richie Mehta. "Finally, to the tireless mother, and her daughter," added Mehta in his virtual speech. The lead actor Shefali Shah expressed her excitement on Twitter. India had bagged nominations in other categories also.

Delhi: Police Find Body Of Woman With Injuries On Neck In Bushes

The Delhi Police have found a dead body of a woman, with injuries on neck, in the forested area in Dwarka Sector 23. The 40-year-old victim, identified as Sharma, was a resident of Revla Khanpur. The police said, "She was attacked with a sharp object. It could be a knife or blade." Reportedly, a case has been registered in this regard and the body has been sent for post-mortem.

Ghaziabad: Police Arrest Man For Faking His Own Kidnapping

Ghaziabad Police on October 7 arrested a 20-year-old man for faking his own kidnapping to buy a car. The accused, Akash Kumar, planned the fake kidnapping along with his two friends to get the money from his family, the police said. The police arrested the two accused, Akash and Ankit, but the third suspect is on the run. Further investigation is underway, informed the police.

NCRB Data Suggests 20% Increase In Delhi's Crime Rate; 3% Rise Nationwide

National Crime Records Bureau's (NCRB) data indicated that crime rate in Delhi has increased by 20% from 2018 to 2019, and 3% rise was registered nationwide. Out of 290,000 cases registered in Delhi, 82% were theft cases. Reportedly, there was a dip in Delhi's vehicle-theft cases from last year, and a 3% rise in rape cases. Besides, the number of murder cases in the city increased by 1.5%.

Delhi: 35-year-old Man Killed For Failing To Pay Back To Meat Supplier

Three people were arrested in Delhi on September 27, for allegedly murdering a 35-year-old man. Reportedly, the victim had failed to pay a due of Rs 4,000 to one of the accused, from whom he had purchased meat. The accused has been recognized as Bhanu alias Vakil Kumar (31), Pintu Kumar (27), and Anil (26). The police have recovered the body from a canal in Haryana's Sonipat.

Drug Dealer Arrested in Mumbai; Claims His Connection with Celebrities

Usman Ali Shaikh, a drug dealer who was pretending to be a delivery boy was arrested by the Mumbai Crime Branch. Reportedly, around 139 grams of mephedrone (MD), a synthetic drug, worth Rs. 5.5 lakh was recovered from the accused. The accused, Shaikh claimed that he had supplied drugs to celebrities. The police have arrested two more people in connection to this case and investigation is underway.

Police informed that the accused have confessed that they committed the crime on the orders of the truck's owner.
