The Supreme Court in its order has directed that the state governments of Punjab, Haryana, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh and Delhi to ensure that crop burning is stopped, for which a meeting will be convened tomorrow. It also added that the local Station House Officer (SHO) will be responsible for it under the overall supervision of the Chief Secretary. The decisiion after the Delhi AQI worsened.

Delhi Government on November 9 issued directions to ban diesel generators and hike parking fees in the entire city. Delhi's air quality was recorded to remain in the "severe category" with Air Quality Index (AQI) registering at 436. Reportedly, the city's air quality deteriorated to hazardous after the night of Diwali. AQI in certain regions was reported to cross 600 in the city, according to the reports. Besides, the continued stubble burning in the nearby states will further keep the city in a hazardous category, say reports.
