Sourav Ganguly Tests Positive For COVID-19 Delta Plus Variant
BCCI President Sourav Ganguly tested positive for the 'Delta plus variant', on January 1. "Ganguly's samples tested positive for Delta plus variant. We are treating him for that,'' said an official. Recently, Ganguly was tested positive after conducting an RT-PCR test, but tested negative for the deadly new COVID-19 variant, Omicron. He is in-home quarantine under the doctor's supervision after being discharged from the hospital.

Germany Issues Warning Over Delta Variant Covid Outbreak

India Reports 14,313 Covid-19 Cases, 549 Deaths In 24 Hours

Rising Delta Variant Cases Of COVID-19 In UK & US Raises Concern
Britain and the US have been struck hard by the COVID-19's Delta Variant, despite a higher vaccination rate. Hospitals are again witnessing an increase in patients and fatalities. America is recording an average of 1900 deaths daily and over 40% increase in average daily deaths over the past two weeks while the death tally of the UK stands at 160,000. Reportedly, the virus is now targeting the unvaccinated population.

Delta Variant 8 Times More Likely To Escape Vaccine Immunity: Covid-19
Researchers from India and other countries have found in a study published in Nature journal that Delta variant of covid-19 was eight times more likely to break out the immunity gained by Pfizer and AstraZeneca vaccines. Also Delta variant is six times more likely to re-infect those who have retrieved from covid-19. Moreover, increased replication and reduced sensitivity have been achieved through natural infection or vaccines.

Only 15,000 Tourists Can Visit Mussoorie On Weekends: Uttarakhand Govt
The Uttarakhand administration tightened the rules for travelers, claiming only 15,000 people to be allowed to visit Mussoorie hill station. Announcing the development, DM R Rajesh Kumar said, ''It's mandatory for the visitors to carry RT-PCR negative report, not older than 72 hours.'' Notably, the state govt also imposed the COVID-19 induced curfew until September 7 following three cases of the ''AY 2'' Delta Plus variant were reported.

Covid-19: First Case Of Kappa Variant Detected In UP
After two cases of Delta Plus variant strain reported in Deoria and Gorakhpur, a 66-year-old patient was detected with Kappa variant strain in UP’s Sant Kabir Nagar. Reportedly, the strain was found out during the genome sequencing exercise. Following the test, the sample was sent to CSIR’s Institute of Genomics and Integrative Biology, New Delhi. However, the patient succumbed to death on June 14.

US Health Institute: Covaxin 'Effectively Neutralizes' Delta Variant
Both Alpha and Delta forms of Coronavirus can be neutralized by India's Covaxin, developed by Bharat Biotech in association with the ICMR, said US National Institute of Health (NIH). As per NIH, two blood serum test results from patients who received the Covaxin show that the vaccine produces antibodies that neutralize the B.1.1.7 (Alpha) and B.1.617 (Delta) forms of SARS-CoV-2, which were first located in the UK and India, respectively.

48 Cases Of Delta-plus Reported In India; Maharastra Tops With 21
The Delta-plus variant also known as "variant of concern" reported 48 cases in 11 states of India. It is highly transmissible within confined areas according to the government, with 21 cases alone in Maharashtra. Indian Council of Medical Research has claimed that VoC “is present in 12 countries” and has increased from 10.3% in May to 51% in June. The efficacies of available vaccines are still under examination.

WHO Claims Delta Variant As 'Deadliest'; Found In 85 Countries
WHO’s Covid-19 Weekly Epidemiological Update published on June 22, states that the Delta variant has been found in 85 countries. This strain is allegedly more infectious and is expected to be the most deadly amongst others. The current four “Variant of Concerns” – Alpha, Beta, Gamma, and Delta have been found in all associated regions of WHO. Alpha, Beta, and Gamma have been found in 170, 119, and 71 countries respectively.
