In what could be called as a recent discovery, a team of scientists identified two new rare species of ants in Kerala and Tamil Nadu. A species named Ooceraea Joshi was found in the Periyar Tiger Reserve and named after renowned biologist Amitabh Joshi. Reportedly, the two new species of the rare class were discovered by the team led by Professor Himender Bharti from Punjabi University.

Researchers at ARIES, Nainital, found low concentration of Tropospheric ozone level over Guwahati, in Brahmaputra valley. Surface-level ozone is created by a reaction between oxides of Nitrogen and Volatile organic compounds. A study revealed that this increases when malignant emissions from vehicles, power and chemical plants, boilers, etc chemically react to sunlight.
