Bangladesh PM Sheikh Hasina, while addressing Hyderabad house, expressed her willingness towards resolving the Teesta water-sharing issue soon. She then stated that India is Bangladesh’s most important and closest neighbour. The Teesta water-sharing issue can be traced back to 2011, when both the nations signed an agreement to share surface waters at the Farakka Barrage near their mutual border.

Bangladesh PM Sheikh Hasina To Arrive At India For 4-Day Visit

Bangladesh PM Sheikh Hasina is scheduled to arrive at India for a four-day visit, on September 5. The leaders are expected to conduct talks related to upgrading defence cooperation, regional connectivity initiatives and establishing stability in South Asia. She is expected to meet President Droupadi Murmu and Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar. She will also hold bilateral talks with PM Modi.

Bangladesh's Human Rights Commission Condemns Violence Against Hindus, Demands Probe

The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) of Bangladesh has strongly condemned the attack on Hindus during Durga Puja festival in Dhaka. The commission also demanded for a probe into the matter, and said that communal violence in a "secular country" is not acceptable. Meanwhile, on July 16, houses of Hindus were set ablaze in Sahapora area of Lohagara, Narail.

Dhaka Police To Give Secutity To Hindu Temples: Communal Violence

Md Shafiqul Islam, the commissioner of Dhaka Metropolitan Police, on October 26 issued an order to tighten security at temples and other places of worship in the city to avert further communal violence. The decision was taken in a review meeting to discuss the recent anti-Hindu incidents in Bangladesh. Reportedly, police patrols have been enhanced at puja locations, and the cybercrime department has been directed to monitor social media.

Deadly Factory Fire Claims Innocent Lives Of Workers In Bangladesh 

As many as 52 trapped people have died and 30 were injured due to the outbreak of massive fire at a food factory in Rupganj situated at Bangladesh's capital Dhaka. Several workers jumped off the building to escape the fire. The cause of the fire is yet to be determined. However, rescuers are conducting a search and rescue operation to discover the total number of casualties.

Effective from June 28, a strict nationwide lockdown will be imposed in Bangladesh to combat the surge of the delta variant. According to the rules of lockdown, no one will be allowed to leave their homes unless it is an absolute emergency.
