Ex-Union Minister Dilip Ray Gets 3-Year Jail Term In Coal Scam Of 1999

For the Jharkhand coal block scam in 1999, former Union Minister Dilip Ray has been given 3-year jail term by a special CBI court. Besides, two government officials have also been sentenced the same. Reportedly, an FIR was registered against Ray in September 2012 by CBI on the grounds of irregularities in 'coal block allocations'. He has served as Minister of State in the Atal Bihari Vajpayee regime.

CBI Court Convicts Former Union Minister Dilip Ray in Coal Block Allotment Case

A special CBI Court in New Delhi, on October 6, convicted Former Union Minister, Dilip Ray and two former Coal Ministry officials in the coal block allotment scam. The convicts were accused of allocating abandoned coal mine areas in Jharkhand to Castron Technologies Limited in 1999. The CTL has also been convicted in the case. The arguments to decide the sentence period will be heard on October 14.
