Dinesh Gunawardena Takes Oath As Sri Lanka's 15th Prime Minister

Dinesh Gunawardena took the oath of office as Sri Lanka's next prime minister on July 22. The 73-year-old Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna Member of Parliament has been selected as the island nation's 15th PM. Gunawardena was named Home Minister by then-President Gotabaya Rajapaksa in April. With Gotabaya having fled the nation and resigned from his office, former PM Ranil Wickremesinghe was chosen as Sri Lanka's eighth President on July 21.
