Biden Shows No Regret On Disengagement Of Troops From Afghanistan

As the Taliban seized two more provincial cities, totaling eight, US President Joe Biden claimed that he has no remorse for his decision to pull out of Afghanistan. "I do not regret my decision," he said. Only recently, the Taliban militants captured two more provincial capitals - Farah city and Pul-e-Khumri in the previous week. Thousands of people have been evacuated due to the ongoing rage.

PLA Troops Return To LAC At Gogra Post Friction Point

After a 15 month-long standoff, both Indian and Chinese troops have disengaged near Gogra Post in Eastern Ladakh, Patrolling Point 17A. This indicates that the PLA troop has returned to the Actual Line of Control. An understanding to call off the standoff at PP17A was reached during the July 31 Corps Commander talks. However, the other friction points at Hot Springs, Depsang Plains, and Demchok remain unresolved.

India's External Affairs Minister Meets Chinese Counterpart

External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar met his Chinese counterpart Wang Yi on July 14 for an in-person meeting in Dushanbe. China agreed to seek a "mutually acceptable solution" when India mentioned the negative impact of stretching the existing situation in eastern Ladakh on "bilateral ties". Although China has moved its troops from Galwan and Pangong Valley, the disengagement remains incomplete at Hot Springs, Gogra, and Depsang.
