Rahul Gandhi Remains Disqualified MP As Gujarat HC Rejects Plea In Modi Surname Conviction

In a major setback to the Indian National Congress (INC) and Rahul Gandhi, the Gujarat High Court (HC) rejected Gandhi's plea, seeking suspension of conviction in the 2019 Modi Surname Defamation case. On July 7, the Gujarat HC said, "The conviction is "just, proper and legal." With this verdict of the Gujarat HC in plea, Rahul Gandhi will remain disqualified as MP, and is expected to move the Supreme Court.

Rahul Gandhi Addresses Road Show In Wayanad: Kerala

Rahul Gandhi, the former President of the Indian National Congress (INC) held a road show and addressed a public rally meeting in Wayanad, Kerala. It is Gandhi's furst visit after being disqualified as the Lok Sabha member. Notably, after convicted in a 2019 defamation case for "Modi surname' remark, the Lok Sabha Secretariat issued notice to Gandhi. Although a Surat Court granted bail to Rahul, he is a disqualified MP.

Congress Holds Satyagraha Protest Across India Against Gandhi's Disqualification

Congress called for a "Satyagraha" protest against the disqualification of Rahul Gandhi as Lok Sabha Member of Parliament (MP.)  Although the police denied permission, the party workers, in different states of India gathered and staged a protest. Moreover, Rahul Gandhi also updated his Twitter bio, "dis 'qualified' MP. The disqualification of Gandhi as Lok Sabha MP after being convicted in a defamation case is gaining criticism for BJP.
