Pizza Tops As Most-Ordered Food on Zomato in 2020, Biriyani, Momos follow

In a report released by food-delivery service Zomato, pizza has entered the list of the most-ordered food in India. As per the report, over 17 lakh orders received by Zomato till November 2020 were for the pizza. Also, more than 19 lakh veg biriyanis were ordered during the period that means 22 deliveries every minute. Besides, gulab jamun emerged as the favourite desert with over one lakh orders on Diwali itself.

Kolkata: Puja Community Members Destroy Firecrackers To Spread Awareness

After the Calcutta High Court banned the use and sale of firecrackers on Diwali, members of a Kali Puja community in Kolkata on November 12 destroyed firecrackers with water to spread awareness. In addition to Diwali, the court has also decided to restrict 'Chhath' and 'Kartik Puja' celebration to curb pollution. The High Court has warned that those, who flout the rules, would serve a six-month jail term.

Silver Remains People's Pick This Dhanteras Owing to Pandemic

Jewellers in the NCT-Delhi claimed that people are showing keen interest in buying Silver ahead of the Dhanteras festival. They opined that the unemployment due to the pandemic made people shift to the less costly metal this time. A jeweller mentioned people wanted to celebrate Dhanteras “without burning a hole in their pocket.” Another claimed that the footfall of customers and sales are very low this time owing to the pandemic.

Maharashtra's Thane-based Sameer Mahajan has started promoting home-made 'ghee diyas', Sughandeep, this Diwali. For the tradition-based 'ghee diyas', Mahajan said, "In today's times, we are all reviving a lot of old things, old customs."
