CM MK Stalin Expresses Stance Against NEP, Calls It ‘Stumbling Block’: Tamil Nadu

Tamil Nadu CM MK Stalin on August 30, said that the government apart from opposing National Education Entrance Test (NEET), is also against the National Education Policy (NEP). He stated that the NEP “is not a stepping stone, but a stumbling block”. He further stated, “we are resisting because we are a society which fought for the right to education”. The CM also intends on framing a State Education Policy.

Tamil Nadu police have arrested a man for allegedly hurling footwear at state's finance minister Palanivel Thiagarajan's car. The incident occurred when the minister was returning after paying homage to a slain Indian Army soldier hailing for the district. After a heated argument with BJP workers, one member blocked Thiagarajan's car at the airport, and hurled footwear, which got stuck in the windshield, reported PTI.

Following his discharge, he arrived at the secretariat complex at around 10 am, and was the first to cast his vote in the complex. The presidential polls to elect the 15th president of India began on July 18, and votes counting of votes is scheduled to take place on July 21.

Tamil Nadu Govt Asks Panel To Draft Distinctive State Education Policy As Alternative To NEP

The DMK-led Tamil Nadu government has asked the 13-member panel headed by Justice D Murugesan, to draft a distinctive state education policy. The distinctive state education policy will be introduced as an alternative for the National Educational Policy (NEP), opposing the three-language formula and entrance exams for all UG courses. The panel is asked to submit recommendations within one year, and to keep in mind the youths of the state.
