Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh took offence to the Sanatan Dharam comment by DMK leader Udhayanidhi Stalin and demanded an apology from I.N.D.I.A and BLOC alliance of the opposition. Notably, Singh said, " Congress ally DMK is insulting Sanatan Dharma. They say that Sanatan Dharma should be abolished." He also asked the Congress and the DMK to apologise and take action against Stalin.

Tamil Nadu police have arrested a man for allegedly hurling footwear at state's finance minister Palanivel Thiagarajan's car. The incident occurred when the minister was returning after paying homage to a slain Indian Army soldier hailing for the district. After a heated argument with BJP workers, one member blocked Thiagarajan's car at the airport, and hurled footwear, which got stuck in the windshield, reported PTI.

Tamil Nadu CM MK Stalin who was admitted to hospital after he contracted COVID-19, has been discharged. Following his discharge, he arrived at the secretariat complex at around 10 am, and was the first to cast his vote in the complex. The presidential polls to elect the 15th president of India began on July 18, and votes counting of votes is scheduled to take place on July 21.

The DMK-led Tamil Nadu government has asked the 13-member panel headed by Justice D Murugesan, to draft a distinctive state education policy. The distinctive state education policy will be introduced as an alternative for the National Educational Policy (NEP), opposing the three-language formula and entrance exams for all UG courses. The panel is asked to submit recommendations within one year, and to keep in mind the youths of the state.

On the occasion of International Labour Day, Tamil Nadu CM MK Stalin, addressed an event in the capital city of Chennai, on May 1. He said that the DMK government doesn't just extend greetings, but also works towards the upliftment of the workforces. He then recalled the steps taken by DMK government in the past, for labour welfare. "Remember, the DMK government provided free electricity to the farmers," he said.
