Kerala: 2 Doctors Died, 3 Injured In Tragic Accident

Two doctors died and three others were injured on Sunday when a car they were travelling in plunged into the Periyar river in Kerala's Kochi, police said. The injured were shifted to a nearby hospital. Advaith, 29, and Ajmal, 29, both working at a private hospital in the district, died in the accident that occurred at around 12.30 AM. They were returning to Kodungallur and reportedly using Google Map.

Bhopal Woman, A Rabies Suspect Die At State-Run Hospital

In Bhopal, P Chandrika (53) died of suspected rabies infection in nearby Perambra, even after she took the necessary vaccination, confirmed government sources. Notably, Chandrika, a resident of Randeyaaru was bitten by a dog on her face on July 21. She was admitted to the Government Medical College hospital, and died on August 20, due to health complications. However, it is yet to be known if Chandrika was rabies infected.

IMD Forecasts ‘Very Heavy Rainfall’ In Mumbai & Surrounding Areas

Mumbai experienced persistent moderate rainfall and severe rainfall in isolated areas on June 30 due to strong winds and the building of a trough. For the next 48 hours, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) forecasts "very heavy rainfall" across the city and surrounding areas. Doctors in the city have advised citizens to take additional care during the monsoon season to prevent catching dengue, leptospirosis, or malaria.

481 Resident Doctors Test Positive For Covid-19: Maharashtra

More than 481 resident doctors of Maharashtra have tested positive for Covid-19 on January 12, as per officials. "At least 481 resident doctors have tested COVID positive in Maharashtra so far," said Maharashtra Association's Resident Doctor Dr. Avinash Dahiphale to ANI. According to the BMC, on January 11, 34,424 new COVID cases and 22 deaths were reported in Maharashtra in 24 hours. Meanwhile, Mumbai reported 11,647.

AIIMS Cancels Doctors' Winter Vacation Amid COVID-19 Surge

In a notice on January 4, the All India Institute of Medical Science (AIIMS) cancelled winter vacation of doctors. The decision was taken amid the rising number of COVID-19 and its variant Omicron cases in India. "It is to inform that the Competent Authority has decided to cancel the remaining part of the winter vacation from 5th to 10th January due to ongoing COVID-19 and Omicron pandemic," read the notice.

Doctors On Way To SC Blocks Road After Delhi Police Stops

The doctors from major hospitals, who're on strike, blocked a road leading to ITO because Delhi police stopped their march to the Supreme Court, on December 27. Karnataka Resident Doctors To Go On Indefinite Strike, Forward 3 Demands

The Karnataka Association of Resident Doctors (KARD) called for an indefinite strike from November 29. Resident doctors of all KARD affiliated medical colleges will withdraw OPD and OT services, (excluding emergency cases) until their three-point demands; restructuring current fee (which was hiked by 400%) as per 2018-2019 academic year, Covid-19 risk allowance (Rs 10,000 assured by State government) and stipend payment on time.

Yogi Govt To Extend Doctor's Retirement Age From 65 To 70

To be prepared before the third wave of COVID-19, the Yogi government has planned to increase the retirement age of doctors from 65 to 70 in Uttar Pradesh. The proposal to extend the age is expected to get the approval of the cabinet at ease considering the upcoming assembly election. However, there is only one doctor on 19,962 patients in UP which is less than 17,759 from Delhi.

2 Yr Old Girl Undergoes Weight Loss Surgery In India

Two-year-old Khyati Varshney has purportedly become the youngest child in India to undergo bariatric or weight loss surgery in Delhi's Max Hospital. Reportedly, Varshney has a disorder that increased her weight to 45 kg since her birth and posed a serious health risk. "She may have died without the surgery", said Dr. Vivek Bindal, Head of Max Institute of Minimal Access, Bariatric, and Robotic Surgery.
