Mumbai experienced persistent moderate rainfall and severe rainfall in isolated areas on June 30 due to strong winds and the building of a trough. For the next 48 hours, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) forecasts "very heavy rainfall" across the city and surrounding areas. Doctors in the city have advised citizens to take additional care during the monsoon season to prevent catching dengue, leptospirosis, or malaria. 

Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya held a high-level meeting with the Indian Medical Association (IMA) officials and doctors, over COVID-19 management. Scheduled on January 11, at 11:30 am, the meeting is underway to discuss the ongoing third wave and Omicron situation. The meeting is being held virtually, in Delhi. Meanwhile, Indian Health Department administered 9,84,676 precaution doses to eligible people in the last 24 hours. 

The doctors from major hospitals, who're on strike, blocked a road leading to ITO because Delhi police stopped their march to the Supreme Court, on December 27. Reportedly, they're demanding to expedite the counselling of NEET PG 2021 qualifiers, adding around 50,000 doctors to government hospitals across India. To be prepared before the third wave of COVID-19, the Yogi government has planned to increase the retirement age of doctors from 65 to 70 in Uttar Pradesh. The proposal to extend the age is expected to get the approval of the cabinet at ease considering the upcoming assembly election. However, there is only one doctor on 19,962 patients in UP which is less than 17,759 from Delhi.

A 26-year-old doctor has tested positive for the Covid-19 three times, twice after receiving both doses of the virus vaccine in Mumbai. Dr. Shrusthi Halari, who worked at the city's Mulund Covid Centre, had her swab samples taken for genome sequencing as part of research to study the infection's occurrence after being thoroughly inoculated. However, "the reinfections are confusing,” Dr. Halari said in a statement.
