The World Health Organisation (WHO) asked people to avoid animal contact, after the first known human-to-dog transmission of monkeypox was reported in France. On August 19, a case, involving two men and their Italian greyhound has been reported in Paris, following which the WHO asked for separate isolation for animals and waste management. Notably, rising number of monkeypox has been a concern for the world.

The "Dog Tax" was announced by government officials in Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh. Depending on the type of dog, pet owners may be required to pay more than Rs.100. The Municipal Corporation formerly charged a levy of Rs.500 on costly breed dogs and Rs.200 on locally bred canines. Now citizens will be required to pay around Rs.630 annually. A license would also be required to keep a pet dog at home. 

A consumer forum in Gurugram has fined "The Magnolia's" management and security agency Rs 3.8 lakh in connection with a safety failure that resulted in a dog bite incident. The victim, a young girl, and her family were subjected to psychological abuse. She was unable to attend school for two weeks, was isolated in her house, and was traumatized for the rest of her life. 

In a viral video, two Golden Retrievers named Gamja and Chip in which a big doggo sister taught her younger pooch brother seven things. A TikToker named Chloe has been accused of "animal abuse" after she dyed her pet dog red. She shared a series of viral videos on TikTok featuring her pet dog, Dandelion. Netizens were shocked to see the video and slammed her. She explained that dying her pet dog red has been useful because he is less likely to be stolen, or hit by a car and can be identified easily.
