The Dominica High Court has adjourned the wanted diamantaire Mehul Choksi's bail till June 11. Reportedly, Choksi approached the HC after the magistrate court rejected his bail petition on the charges of illegal entry into the Caribbean island. According to Dominica News Online, the government, represented by Director of Public Prosecution (DPP) Sherma Dalrymple, "seriously opposed" to Choksi's plea, considering him a flight risk.

Dominica's Magistrate court denied Mehul Choksi's bail appeal against the illegal entry into the Caribbean island nation. Leading the investigation in Rs 13,500-crore PNB scam, Raut will be present in the June 2 hearing and will assist Dominican government. Caught recently while trying to escape Cuba, Choksi’s arrest has created a political controversy in the Caribbean country with opposition blaming Dominican PM as a part of conspiracy.

In a new twist to Mehul Choksi's case, the diamantaire's lawyer Vijay Aggarwal has claimed that his client was "forcefully picked by various people", thus explaining his emergence in Dominica. Besides, he also alleged that Choksi has sustained multiple injuries on his body, which indicates of him being "tortured" by the abductors. Meanwhile, Antigua, from where Choksi fled, has asked Dominica to repatriate him directly to India.
