Ganesh Idol Immersion Turns Tragic, 4 Drowned In Haryana
In Haryana's Mahendragarh, four people died and four were rescued during an event of Ganesh idol immersion. According to Mahendragarh Police, near a canal in Jhagadoli village, 20-22 people were present for Ganesh idol immersion, and many drowned in the river. As of now, the police confirmed to rescue of four people, whereas four boys died. In addition, operations to rescue others is underway.

6 Persons Drown In Chhattisgarh’s Ramdaha Waterfall; 1 Rescued
In Chhattisgarh’s Koriya district, six persons died by way of drowning in the Ramdaha waterfall, while one person was rescued on August 28. District Magistrate Kuldeep Sharma stated that all were residents of Madhya Pradesh’s Singrauli. Soon after the incident, a rescue operation was launched, and officials were able to retrieve the bodies of the deceased, and rescue one person who was drowning.

AP Beach Tragedy: Two More Bodies Recovered, 3 More Persons Missing
The death toll in the Andhra Pradesh beach tragedy has risen to three, as of July 30. Thirteen students from DIET college visited beach in the Anakapalli district on July 29. Six students stayed on the shore, seven others ventured into the sea, and allegedly got swept away due to high tides. One was immediately rescued and admitted to a hospital, and one was reported dead. Meanwhile, rest are missing.

Students Go For Picnic, 2 Drowns In Thane, Maharashtra
The Maharashtra police informed three different drowning incidents in Thane, on July 12. In one such incident, 3 students of 12 while on a picnic, drowned in the Ambernath area. Two of the students went for a swim in the Ambe river nearby and one of them started drowning to save them, others also jumped. The rescue force saved other students. However, two, Nikhil Kanojia and Ankit Jaiswal drowned.

CRPF Commando Drowns In River While Trying To Rescue Comrade: Chhattisgarh
CRPF Commando Suraj R (27), passed away by way of drowning, while trying to rescue assistant commandant from getting washed away in a river. Suraj hailed from Kerala's Kollam, and was posted in Chhattisgarh's Sukma. The incident occurred while they were returning from an anti-maoist operation in Sukma. Chandan, the official Suraj tried to save, was rescued. "He saved me and I can never forget his smiling face," said Chandan.

Three Men Drown In Chuna Dhari Waterfall In UP's Mirzapur; Place Closed For Tourists
In Uttar Pradesh's Mirzapur, three men drowned in Chuna Dhari waterfall, while on a picnic, on July 10. Following the incident, the District Magistrate immediately close sthe waterfall for tourists. Reportedly, they slipped while taking a bath in the waterfall, and drowned. Reportedly, after four hours of struggle, their bodies were retrieved by local divers. The deceased did not know how to swim, reported PTI.

3 Drowned In Pond While Bathing, Confirms Police: Rajasthan
Three people, including two minors identified as Kanaram Meghwal (22) Gopal (15) along with Chhoturam (15) drowned while bathing in a pond in Churu district of Rajasthan. On July 6, the district police confirmed the incident happened in Dhaderu Godaran village. Furthermore, Bidasar Police Station SHO Mahendra Kumar said while taking a bath, victims slipped into the deep end and died. Meanwhile, their body has been sent for postmortem.

'Law & Order' Actor, Maya Mara Passes Away After Drowning
Hollywood actress Mary Mara, well known for her appearances in "ER" and "Law & Order," passed away on June 26 in Cape Vincent, New York, at the age of 61. Her death was caused by drowning while swimming in the St. Lawrence River near Cape Vincent. Her corpse has been taken to the Jefferson County Medical Examiner's Office for an autopsy to ascertain an official cause of death.

IIT Kanpur Student Drowned In Ganga, Confirms UP Police
In Uttar Pradesh's Kanpur, an IIT student identified as Chanchal Kumar Meena drowned to death in River Ganga, confirmed police on June 19. As per PTI, ACP Kernalganj Tirpurari Pandey said, "Two students of IIT Kanpur had drowned while taking bath in river Ganga. One of them was saved, while the other one drowned." Notably, a group of 10 IIT-Kanpur students went to the Atal Ghat at the Ganga Barrage.

4 Women, 3 Girls Drown In Tamil Nadu's Kedilam River, PM Modi Expresses Condolences
In Tamil Nadu's Cuddalore district, while bathing at Kedilam river near Nellikuppam, four women and three girls drowned, on June 5. Following the incident, CM MK Stalin announced a solatium of Rs 5 lakh to each families of the deceased. PM Modi expressed his grief over a Tweet, and said, "my thoughts are with the bereaved families". Also, various political leaders in Tamil Nadu expressed their condolences.
