Drowned

In Uttar Pradesh's Kanpur, an IIT student identified as Chanchal Kumar Meena drowned to death in River Ganga, confirmed police on June 19. As per PTI,  ACP Kernalganj Tirpurari Pandey said, "Two students of IIT Kanpur had drowned while taking bath in river Ganga.  One of them was saved, while the other one drowned." Notably, a group of 10 IIT-Kanpur students went to the Atal Ghat at the Ganga Barrage.

In Uttar Pradesh's Jhansi, two boys drowned while bathing in a pond of the Gursarai region confirmed police on June 3. They fished out bodies, identified as Sudesh Kumar Parihar (11) and his neighbor Arvind (9). The Gursarai SHO Arun Kumar Tiwari said, the victim's families filed a missing report, following which the police started an operation. Shivam (18) and Sachin (16) who went to Ganga river in Kamalganj area to bathe, drowned on May 16. The duo were taking selfies in the mid-stream, after which they drowned. Two others who were bathing along with them were rescued by the locals and rushed to the Kamalganj Community Heath Centre for treatment. The bodies of the deceased have been returned to the families after they refused for post-mortem.

In a tragic incident, an eight-month-old baby drowned in a water tank in Delhi's Dallupura, confirmed police on May 4. Notably, the mother of the victim went out for some work, leaving her three children, a four-year-old, two-year-old, and eight-month-old in a room. On her return, she found the child drowning in water-tank, and rushed the baby to LB Nagar Hospital, where doctors declared the baby, brought dead.

In a tragic incident, three including a minor drowned in Ganga river, Uttar Pradesh, on March 20. As per PTI, Kumkum (15), Arvind (10), and Shiva (11) were rescued by the locals, while three others Shyam Raidas (30), Dinesh Raidas (22) and Sakshi Raidas (11) drowned. UP CM Yogi Adityanath expressed grief and directed State disaster force to conduct rescue operation and find bodies of Shyam and Dinesh.
