Karnataka MLA Zameer Ahmed Khan, accused of being involved in drugs racket, said that he was being targeted owing to his religion. "I’m a minority, a Muslim...some people aren’t able to digest my growth," he said. He also challenged that he would surrender his assets to the government if proven guilty. Zameer added that he had already filed a defamation case against Prashanth Sambargi who had accused him.

Bangalore: Corporator's Residence Raided in Connection with Drug Mafia
In connection with a drug racket in the city, the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) raided the residence of Keshavamurthy, a Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) Corporator. Yashas, the Corporator's son, was issued a notice by the NCB, to appear before them. Reportedly, the NCB has also raided Yashas's house, suspecting his connection with drug peddlers. Reportedly, an FIR accusing 12 people has been filed in connection with drug mafia.

Kannada Actress Ragini Dwivedi Arrested in Connection with Drug Scandal
Sandalwood actress Ragini Dwivedi on September 4 was arrested by the Central Crime Branch for her alleged involvement in a drug scandal. According to sources, the actress has been arrested after police found ganja-filled cigarettes during the raid conducted at her house. So far, four people have been arrested in the drug scandal case in the Kannada film industry. Narcotics Control Bureau had recently busted a drug racket in Bangalore.

Indrajit Lankesh Claims at Least 15 in Kannada Film Industry Involved in Drug Trade
Sandalwood Filmmaker, Indrajit Lankesh, who had given a statement that the drug trade was evident in the Kannada film industry, was summoned by the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) to provide information on the same. Subsequently, he has revealed names of at least 15 people, including "musicians and actors" who are said to be involved in the drug business. The filmmaker gave out the statement after NCB busted a drug racket in Bangalore.

Assam Police Arrest Truck Driver With Banned Drugs Worth Rs 5 Crore
A man on August 27 was arrested with drugs worth Rs 5 crore in Assam’s Karbi Anglong district. Reportedly, the drugs have been recovered from a truck, coming from Dimapur in Nagaland to Guwahati, during a regular checking by the district police. The police seized large quantity of WY tablets, which the accused tried to hide under the driver's seat.

Interstate Drug Cartel Worth Rs 32 Crore Busted in Delhi, 1 Member Arrested
Santosh Kumar Sinha from Jharkhand has been identified by a team of Special Cell Northern Range, as a key member of an interstate drug cartel that supplies heroin to Delhi-NCR and UP. He was busted with 8 kg of high-grade heroin worth over Rs 32 crore. Several cell phones and sim cards used in drug trafficking have also been seized. The cartel was mostly active in forest areas of Jharkhand.
