Tsunami Alert Issues After Earthquake In New Caledonia

A tsunami warning was triggered by an earthquake of magnitude 7.7 that struck southeast of Loyalty Islands in New Caledonia, authorities said. The United States Geological Survey (USGS) said the quake hit at a depth of 10 km (6.21 miles). As per sources, it triggered a warning of a possible tsunami for the areas of New Caledonia, Fiji, and Vanuatu, the U.S. tsunami warning system said.

Mizoram & Nicobar Island Witnessed Earthquake

Regions of Nicobar Island and Mizoram witnessed a slight earthquake, in the wee hours of April 11.  Occurred at 2:46 AM, the earthquake magnitude was of 4.6, at a depth of 32 km, confirmed sources. The National Centre of Siesmology tweeted, "Earthquake of Magnitude:4.6 occurred on 10-04-2023, 02:26:02 IST, Lat: 8.98 and Long: 94.07, Depth: 32 Km , Location: 220km N of Campbell Bay, Nicobar island."

6.6 Magnitude Earthquake Hits Pakistan, 9 Killed

In a tragic earthquake, nine people were killed in Pakistan. Notably, an earthquake of 6.6 magnitude struck Afghanistan's Hindu Kush region. Strong tremors were also felt in northern India too. According to the US Geological Survey, the epicentre of the quake was in Afghanistan's Jurm at a depth of 180 kilometres. According to the National Centre for Seismology, a magnitude of 6.6 on the Richter Scale hit 133km.

Teen Trapped In Earthquake Debris Survived After 96 Hours: Turkey-Syria Quake

In the Turkey-Syria earthquake, a 17-year-old boy, who got trapped under the rubble on February 6, was rescued after almost four days. The struggle of the teen boy identified as Adnan Muhammet Korkut was said to be very painful as he drank his own urine and ate his family’s flowers to survive. The disastrous earthquake which hit Syria-Turkey on February 6, claimed over 25,000 lives and feared thousands trapped.

Earthquake Of 7.4 Magnitudes Hit Turkey, 15 Dead

An earthquake of 7.4 magnitudes hit the regions of Turkey, on February 6. The natural disaster killed five people in the province of Osmaniye and 10 more in Sanliurfa, confirmed local sources. In addition, approximately 34 buildings were collapsed and properties were damaged due to the earthquake in Turkey, which struck at 04:17 am local time (0117 GMT) at a depth of about 17.9 kilometres (11 miles).

Earthquake Of 5.9 Magnitude Jolts Indonesia’s Sumatra

An earthquake of 5.9 magnitude on the Richter scale jolted Indonesia’s Sumatra island during the early hours on October 1. According to the US Geological survey, the quake killed at least one person and injured dozens of others as people rushed out of buildings seeking safety. Reportedly, the quake occurred at around 2:30 am 40kms from the town of Sibolga, and had a depth of 13 kms.
