ECI Holds Review Meeting With Political Parties Ahead Of Himachal Pradesh Assembly Elections

Review meeting were held by the Election Commission of India (ECI) to discuss the preparedness for the upcoming elections in Himachal Pradesh. The review meetings were held with Deputy Commissioners, Superintendents of Police, IG, DIG, CAPF and Nodal officers of 12 districts. “Today we held a meeting with all political parties,” said Chief Election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar.

Election Commission Gives notice to Sayantan Basu over Inflammatory Speech

The Election Commission of India on April 15 gave notice to BJP leader Sayantan Basu following inflammatory remarks over the Cooch Behar CRPF firing incident at a poll rally in Baranagar. The remarks were in violation of the model code of conduct and provisions of the Representation of the People Act. In addition, the body gave a deadline of 24 hours to explain his stand.

Bengal Polls: EC Slaps Notice To CM Mamata Over Communal Remarks

In a new addition to the already-heated West Bengal Assembly polls, the Election Commission has handed a notice to CM Mamata Banerjee for allegedly violating the election code. The EC has sought a reply from Mamata in 48 hours against her remarks in Tarkeshwar rally where she asked Muslims to unite for TMC and not let their votes split. BJP claimed that Mamata's statement were intended to incite communal violence.
