Schools Shut Across Various Districts Of UP Amid Heavy Downpour
Schools have been shut across various districts of Uttar Pradesh following heavy downpour in the northern states of India. The IMD has also issued an alert in the affected areas. According to the IMD, UP recorded an average rainfall of 22.5 mm on October 9, which is 2396% more than the Long Average Period (LAP) for the day. Schools were closed in Lucknow, Meerut, Ghaziabad, Aligarh and other areas.

IIM Kashipur Celebrates ‘Hindi Diwas’, Holds Book Exhibition
IIM Kashipur celebrated the occasion of “Hindi Diwas” with a book exhibition on September 14. Hindi Diwas is celebrated across the country every year, to remember the historic occasion of Hindi. The event had a footfall of 200, including students, staff and research scholars. Moreover, about 200 books were put on display. The event gave a “much-needed exposure to the Hindi literature,” said first year MBA student Akila Kundran.

Karnataka CM Assures Legislation To Mandate Kannada Language
Karnataka Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai said his government is bringing in a legislation to make Kannada "mandatory" in the State. On the Hindi Divas, September 14, Bommai said the announcement, which is expected to be after protest from the locals. Kannada activists have been demanding for many years now for full implementation of Kannada as the administrative language, which is now being considered by BJP-led State Government.

The Indian government has issued advisory to those Indian students aspiring to study in Chinese medical schools, as thousands of enrolled students are continued to be stuck at home due to COVID-19. The Chinese visa ban has affected over 23,000 Indian students. So far, the Indian embassy in China has been receiving several queries regarding the admission. Parwati Sunar, a Nepali mother of two, starts attending the same school as her son after fleeing at the age of 15.
