In a major blow to the Uddhav Thackeray-led Shiv Sena faction, the Supreme Court (SC) ruled on that Eknath Shinde could retain his post as Chief Minister. In the verdict of Shiv Sena V/S Shiv Sena, the Apex Court bench also turned down the plea of Uddhav Thackeray, which sought to retain the government, saying rather than facing floor test, Uddhav Thackeray quit as CM.

Former Maharashtra Governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari gave an exclusive interview and broke his silence on the Shiv Sena V/S Shiv Sena split. After retaining original Shiv Sena symbol 'bow&arrow', Maharashtra CM Eknath Shinde called for a major national executive meeting of the party leaders. The Shiv Sena meeting is scheduled on February 21, which will be attended by MLAs, MPs and other Shiv Sena leaders who have been working with Shinde after he called for his own Shiv Sena Party. This will be first Cabinet meeting of Shinde, after retaining original symbol.

Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) Chief Sharad Pawar gave a remark on the loss of the "bow and arrow" symbol of his ally Uddhav Thackeray faction. On February 17, Pawar advised Uddhav Thackeray to accept the new symbol, saying people will accept the new symbol. The remark came after the ECI ordered that the party name "Shiv Sena" and the party symbol "Bow and Arrow" for Eknath Shinde.
