Alibaba Laid Off Roughly 10,000 Workers As Part Of Cost-Cutting Initiatives

Alibaba, Chinese technology corporation, has laid off around 10,000 workers as part of cost-cutting efforts in the face of a weakening economy. The layoffs came as Alibaba announced a 50% decline in net profits in the June quarter, to 22.74 billion yuan. In other developments, Alibaba Chairman and CEO Daniel Zhang Yong stated that the internet business wants to hire 6,000 new university graduates by the end of the year.

Union Commerce Ministry Announces New Guidelines For WFH In Companies Across India

New set of guidelines for work from home (WFH) in organizations across India was released by Union Commerce Ministry on July 19. In accordance with the regulations, WFH is permitted for up to one year in Special Economic Zones (SEZ) unit and can be expanded to 50% employees. Employees of IT/ITeS SEZ units, temporarily disabled, who are traveling, and who are working offsite are included in the group of workers.

Tesla Lays Off 229 Workers From Autopilot Team, Shuts US Office

In order to reduce 10% salaries of Elon Musk-run Tesla, the company laid off 229 annotation employees from its Autopilot team and closed one of its offices in the US. On July 13, Tesla laid off workers from its San Mateo office, which has over 276 workers. The remaining 47 employees may be sent to work in Tesla's Buffalo Autopilot office, yet to be confirmed.

Twitter To Sue Elon Musk After Withdrawing Merger Agreement; Forbades Staff From Tweeting

Elon Musk, CEO of Tesla, has withdrawn the $44 billion Twitter purchase, and Twitter staff are not permitted to discuss it on Twitter. Employees of Twitter have received a note ordering them not to post about the Elon Musk acquisition. Musk pulled out of the $44 billion transactions, claiming Twitter had broken many merger agreement clauses. Therefore, Twitter has made the decision to sue Musk.

Twitter Dismisses Nearly 100 People From Talent Acquisition Department

Twitter has started laying off employees. According to recent reports, the microblogging site reduced 30% of its talent acquisition department, which mostly consists of recruiters and employees in charge of bringing on new personnel. Twitter has acknowledged that 100 staff will be laid off. The layoff occurred only weeks after Musk stated that Twitter needed to become healthy, implying probable layoffs.
