Addressing a gathering at Thyagaraj Stadium on the occasion of World Environment Day, Kejriwal asserted that both PM 2.5 and PM 10 levels "fell by 30 per cent" in 2022. Arvind Kejriwal said whenever development happens, it is accompanied with pollution due to felling of dust, construction and other issues.

Australia’s Sydney recorded the wettest year in 164 years, with heavy downpour and major floods reported across several parts of the nation. Sydney has recorded 2,213 mm of rain, with three more months to go in 2022. The previous such record was in 1950, when Australia’s largest city of Sydney received 2,194 mm of rainfall. Meanwhile, the city is expected to receive more downpour in the coming days and weeks.

An earthquake of 5.2 magnitude on Richter scale hit Myanmar on September 30, informed National Centre for Seismology (NCS). The quake was reported at around 3:52 am, and had a depth of 140 km. According to the NCS, the quake struck about 162 km Northwest of Myanmar’s Burma. No casualties have been reported from the incident. Further details are awaited.
