EPCA Calls Incentives Given To Those Not Burning Stubble A 'Perverse Incentive'

Environment Pollution (Prevention and Control) Authority (EPCA), on September 30, told the Supreme Court that paying farmers for not burning stubble is a "perverse incentive" and not a viable option. EPCA Chief Notifies Punjab, Haryana to Urgently Act Upon Crop Burning

Environmental Pollution (Prevention and Control) Authority has sent notice to Punjab and Haryana government to urgently act upon the early stubble burning. Chief Bhure Lal stated that SAFAR (an air quality monitoring system) reported around 42 crop-residue fires on September 21. He urged the state secretaries to set up control rooms and make arrangements of machineries for safe disposal of stubble.
