Karnataka CM Bommai Announces Free Electric Two-Wheelers For Sanitation Workers

Karnataka CM Basavaraj Bommai kicked off a special drive providing free electric two-wheelers to sanitation workers. The scheme has so far been extended to ten municipal corporations in the state. About 600 sanitation workers have been selected under the scheme, and about 400 will be provided with electric two-wheelers in the first phase. EV Manufacturers Should Focus On Making Affordable EVs: Karnataka CM Basavaraj Bommai

Karnataka CM Basavaraj Bommai said that the EV manufacturers should focus on making affordable EVs which would benefit the common people. The statement came as he inaugurated the EV Campaign 2022 and 152 EV charging stations, on July 1. He said that only when EVs become affordable, it will start being used widely. He further stated that the government has decided to induct more EV buses into BMTC.

Delhi Airport To Start Using EVs To Reduce GHG Emissions

As part of the Green Transportation Programme, authorities of the Delhi's Indira Gandhi International Airport have decided to introduce Electric Vehicles (EVs) on the airside. In the next 3-4 months, about 62 EVs will be inducted for airside operations as part of the first phase, will is estimated to reduce 1,000 tonnes of GHG emissions globally. Furthermore, 100% of the electricity will be sources from renewable sources.

JSW Group Offers Incentive Of Rs 3 Lakh To Employees For Buying EVs

With an aim to promote electric vehicles, Mumbai-based conglomerate JSW Group announced to provide an incentive of Rs 3 lakh to its employees for buying an EV starting from January 1. The company will also provide free-of-cost dedicated charging stations and parking slots at its offices. The offer is available on both a two-wheeler and four-wheeler. However, it makes the company the first to do so in India.

Ather Energy To Set Up New Facility In Hosur To Scale Up Production

Ather Energy, on November 29, stated that a second manufacturing facility will be set up to scale up the production. Reportedly, by 2022 the new plant will be operational in Hosur. In light of the growing demand for EVs in India, Ather Energy has decided to increase the production from 1,20,000 to 4,00,000 units. Ather currently comes in two variants- 450X and 450 Plus.

Tesla Plans To Open 3 Showrooms In India; Looking For Properties

The world's leading electric car-maker Tesla is planning to start its launch with three showrooms in India. The company has hired CBRE Group Inc to accelerate its search for commercial properties to set up the showroom in New Delhi, Mumbai and Bangalore. The Elon Musk owned company may face challenges to capture the Indian market as out of the total 2.4 million cars sold in 2020, only 5,000 were EV.
