Foreign Minister Jaishankar Meets Singapore's Finance & Health Minister

External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar on November 19 met with the Singapore Finance Minister and Health Ministers of the city-state in the country. At the meeting, Jainshankar exchanged views on the growth prospects of bilateral ties with Finance Minister Laurence Wong. Moreover, he also discussed ''Covid experiences and health security cooperation'' with Singapore's Health Minister One Ye Kung, according to reports.

Assam: EC Calls For Re-Election At Four Booths After Violence, EVM Malfunction

The Election Commission has confirmed to conduct fresh polls at the four polling booths of Assam's Ratabari, Sonai and Haflong constituencies on April 20. Reportedly, the decision was taken after an EVM was retrieved from a BJP candidate’s wife's car in Ratabari, while a Haflong polling booth showed 171 votes, outnumbering 90 eligible voters. Moreover, three people got injured in a violence at the polling booth in Sonari constituency.

Bengal: EC Suspends Poll Officer For Keeping EVM At TMC Leader House

The Election Commission has suspended polling officer Tapan Sarkar for allegedly keeping the EVM and VVPAT with him on his visit to TMC leader Gautam Ghosh's residence on April 5. After recovery of the reserve machines, it was revealed that Sarkar visited Ghosh in Howrah's Uluberia and had slept overnight. The EC has warned of strict action against the people involved, and said recovered voting machines will not be used.

PIL Seeks Removal Of Symbol From EVMs, Requests Candidate's Details

Congress Fears EVM Foul Play, Asks Leaders To Keep A Close Watch

Ahead of the Bihar elections' vote counting on November 10, Congress has asked its workers to be positioned near the counting booths to keep a close watch on EVMs as they fear "foul play". Keeping the exit poll predictions in mind, the party has also asked its senior leaders, Randeep Surjewala and Avinash Pande, to coordinate with allies. Some other senior Congress leaders from different states have also reached Patna.
