We'll Work Hard Again, Owaisi After AIMIM Fails In UP

On Uttar Pradesh's elections results AIMIM President Asaduddin Owaisi on March 10, said that he respects the decision of the people of UP of giving power to the BJP. "Our efforts were quite a lot, but the results didn’t come as per our expectations. We’ll work hard again," Owaisi said. Targeting other parties' defeat he further said, "All political parties are trying to hide their defeat by raising EVM issues."

Congress Protests, Alleges EVMs Tampering After It Trails In 5 Poll Bound States

Alleging tampering with the Electronic Voting Machines Congress workers carried out protest outside the party office in Delhi. "In Goa, Congress is leading on 16-17 seats, it'll be the single largest party and we'll seek support in case numbers aren't enough," Congress leader Satej Patel said. In the early trends, AAP is leading in Punjab and in other states, BJP is leading in Manipur, Uttar Pradesh, Goa, and Uttarakhand.

SC Consider PIL Filed EVMs Usage For Voting, Ahead Of Polls

The Supreme Court considered to hear a PIL against EVMs usage. On January 19, CJI NV Ramana reviewed the PIL, which mentioned imposing EVMs for voting as per 61A of the Representation of People Act is "illegal & unconstitutional" and should be quashed. The petitioner said, the Section 61A is not permitted by Parliament and is not valid. Notably, EVMs are being used tor voting instead of ballot papers now.

WB Polls: EVMs Malfunction Delays Voting Process, Escalates COVID Risk 

EVMs in several areas of WB malfunctioned on April 10, causing inconvenience to the voters due to which the voting process delayed almost an hour. The EVM at Ranikuthi Government Housing estate of Tollygunge failed thrice before technicians were called to fix the issue. "By the time the EVM had been fixed, the queue had lengthened....no social distancing which made it quite risky," a resident said.

PIL Seeks Removal Of Symbol From EVMs, Requests Candidate's Details
